I have been having these ligament pains on my right side since I was about 20 weeks or so but usually only when I turn in bed or when I am getting up to go to the bathroom but I usually just sit for a second and they go away. Well this morning I got up no problem, went to the bathroom and then all of a sudden I felt this absolutely horrible ligament pain taht had me leaning over the banister and it lasted for about 45 minutes. I finally called the hospital and spoke to a nurse who told me that if I wasnt leaking fluid, bleeding and the baby was moving as normal to just take some tylenol and wait it out. So its been about an hour now and I feel normal again - thank God but I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this? I would like to think that I handle pain pretty well but I was really scared this morning with the amount of excrutiating pain I was in. I have had a normal pregnancy up to now - Knock on wood and this is my second child so I dont know if that makes a difference with everything in there being more stretched than last time but I thought I would ask
Thanks in advance

Sounds more like pubic symphysis dysfunction. Worth googling. I had with all 3 pregnancies. It actually got slightly worse with each one. I swear by the Symphysis Maternity Belt. It has great reviews and is pretty cheap. www.symphysismaternitybelt.com

Make sure thats what it is, I have pain down there right now in my pregnancy and its a common hip disorder in pregnant women. I , too, get it when im laying down and turning, or after a leisurely walk.

Round ligament pain, you have my sympathy!
My son will be 39 this week, I remember about 6 weeks before delivery, I was in hospital with round ligament syndrome and false labor for 4 days. Morphine and some type of hormone shot to get it to stop. Was miserable, felt like a hot knife stabbing me in the side.

Hope you get relief soon!

I always dealt with it at the beginning of the pregnancy, but during my third pregnancy I was absolutely miserable and it lasted throughout. By then beginning of my third trimester I had hip dysplasia and my pubic joint separated and I couldn't walk, sit, lay down (basically anything) without pain.

So, yes I went through it. My doctor told me to lay on my left side when it started happening, but I think that was more about good circulation to the baby. The good news is that you are almost there and this is almost over and the amazing trade-off is a beautiful much loved baby!!

Hang in there, Mommy, and congratulations!!
