It honestly depends on the store, location and the shipment. I have times where I find NOTHING and then times where I could buy the whole store!
who has shopped at ross? I am looking for cute girl clothes and all the stores I've been to I just dont see anything I like for my daughter. She isnt a tom boy, but not a girly girl. I just want cute long sleeve shirts and a decent hoodie. Ive tried Kohls, JCPenny, Gap and old navy and im still at a loss. What kind of clothes does ross carry? She is more on the athletic kid part of the spectrum.
I guess I am overly picky, and the hello kitty that is everywhere is very overwhelming and I do not enjoy it at all.

I like Ross - but you have to have patience to shop there. You have to really look through everything. I have often found very nice things for a very good price there. It just depends on when you go. It's hit or miss. Target usually has really cute clothes. Do they have Justice where you live? My daughter loves that store.
What about Children's Place? Target? I'm surprised you didn't find anything at the stores you mentioned. Old Navy usually has exactly what you described during winter. What about a sports store, like Sports Authority?
I wouldn't bother with Ross, it's usually pretty picked over with a poor selection, in my experience. They either have brand names or really crappy quality brands and there doesn't seem to be an in between.
I do think you might be being a bit picky, though. There are plenty of cute clothes out there that aren't overly girly.
The deals at Ross can be great but they are few and far between. The kid's selection is pretty weak and a lot of it is really cheap, very few name brands.
I'm surprised you didn't find anything at Penney's or Old Navy, maybe your stores are smaller than the ones here? Try looking at their websites. Other than that I pretty much got everything at Target, The Children's Place and Gymboree (shop the sale rack!)
And unless your daughter wants to be covered in bling don't go anywhere near Justice lol!!!
ETA: Lands End and LL Bean are also great for the basics and they carry a wide range of sizes :)
uhh. I really like Ross, I get a lot for my daughter, and even for birthday presents. I don't know if it has to do with any particular store, but our Ross, has a great selection of items for girls. My daughter is a total girlie girl, but even when I shop for my best friends' daughters, who aren't that much and aren't tom boys either, I always find good things, a nice hoodie, or cute jeans. One thing I do, tho, it's whenever I have to go over there, I go early in the morning.
Try target... I get a lot of my girls clothes there...
Our Ross is more girly-girl than I'd like for my girls. Do you have a sporting goods store nearby? Academy, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, etc. They have lots of cute athletic type of clothing.
I like Target clothes but it's gotten more expensive than clearance at GAP and Gymboree. I usually do Marshalls but I think Ross has a lower quality. Ofcourse it's hit and miss if you don't mind going out and shopping often to find a good deal.
I've shopped at Ross in Southern CA and DFW. The stores I've been to have very girly girl stuff. The brands vary including some brands I hadn't heard of before.
I'd try Burlington Coat Factory , Nordstrom Rack & Crazy 8.
Ross sells name brand clothing, too.
There is always something there to suit anyone's taste.
Many people in my city shop there for themselves or their kids.
Because, the prices are less. And the Ross store in my city, always has a good selection.
Really, from any of the stores you mentioned you tried, I would think there was lots of clothes to choose from.
Ross is so hit or miss I don't go anymore. Tjmaxx and Marshall's are a bit better at finding things, but I think it totally depends on your location. Children's Place and believe it or not Macys ( when there is a good sale). They both almost always have a coupon too.
I can't stand shopping at Ross, but then, I am not patient when it comes to shopping (literally, I call ahead to a personal shopper at my favorite stores so they have a dressing room full of clothes waiting for me. I can't stand leafing through a million racks of clothes!). However, I do know people who love shopping at Ross. The thing is, it's basically a surplus store. They buy lots of clothing from different manufacturers that are last season's clothes, or overages of this season's clothes. You can get cute stuff, but you have to be willing to dig through racks and racks of clothes, and rarely is anything organized. Every time you go, the selection is completely different.
Have you thought of shopping online at all? I have often found fantastic deals shopping the clearance and sale items from places like Abercrombie Kids, Nordstrom, and Gymboree. Also, Land's End Kids has some great basics, and they're not too expensive.
Try Children's Place, they always have cute clothes, just as you described; not too tom-boy, not too girly ;) and great sales too!
I've not found Ross to be a good place to shop for children's clothes. As to what kind do they carry, it varies, depending on what they get from other stores post season.
I've purchased many outfits from Kohl's for my granddaughter in the girl's departments. Our Kohl's here carry a variety of styles. She's now 12 and is now buying from the juniors department. She is also more of an athletic type. No dresses for her. or ruffles and lace.
I also bought girls' clothes from Sears.
I think each geographic area for stores has their own buyer; thus styles will be different store to store. I think Sears and Penny's as well as Gap and Old Navy are probably more consistent but I know that the styles in different Ross stores in my area are different.
They do have cute long sleeved t-shirts for little girls, jeans and hoodies. I would at least give it a try. Usually a hit or miss for me. I love that you can get nice quality clothing there for a little bit of nothing.
i really like ross. but i can't say what kind of stuff they'll be carrying but it changes constantly. it's also definitely a case of buyer beware- check it all out carefully. but i've got some brilliant deals there!

Love love love ROSS!! I shop there all the time but its for my baby boy. They just get a ton of clothes from other stores, so its always a variteyt and always different, worth a try!
I haven't been impressed with the Ross selection of kids clothes. I've looked several times and find them to be...well, not what I was looking for. I would try Hanna Andersson for something like what you are describing. Their clothes wear very, very well (except for the graphic tees-- the silkscreen does tend to 'go' pretty quickly). That said, their clothes are designed for active kids and have lots of 'give' where they need it. (they have super-cute little bike shorts for sporty girls to wear under their skirts, too.)
Ross is hit or miss - you might find something you like but then you can't find it in your size - plus I know it's supposed to be "brand name" stuff but .......... in my experience the quality kinda sucks.
I like Ross, but as someone else said, it is hit and miss, and I dont think they really have enough to offer in the kids sections, at least in my area. Good luck
I hated Ross' selection across the board. It was my one and only visit.
Ross has sucked BAD lately. It's like they've drastically reduced their inventory, I can never find a THING when I go in there.
