My 7month old son has had a fever for the past three days so I took him to the er and they said his fever is unknown so they sent us home the next day the fever was completely gone during the day he just started breaking out on his face so I took him to his doctor and his doctor said it was roseola and told me it would go away by itself the next day he woke up it was everywhere and he was itching all day long and not sleeping at all I called his doctor and asked y he was itching, because I thought roseola didnt itch he said maybe he is allergic to the ibuprofen that I was told to give him so he told me to stop giving it to him and give him benadryl and so I did it put him to sleep and this morning he is still itchy and the bumps are still all over i just dont know what to do i feel so bad for him and all i can do is cry i just want my happy baby back.

What can I do next?

My daughter never itched with roseola, but all kids are different. Try an oatmeal bath to help with the itching. I would be careful of giving medicines if your son has allergies to them. This is a virus and it will run it coarse on its own. No one likes seeing their child uncomfortable but this is a part of life and he won’t remember it.

My daughter just had Roseola a month ago. Horrible rash that LOOKED itchy but wasn't. The pediatrician told me it should NOT itch.
A nice cool bath may help the itch. Maybe with some oatmeal thrown in?
Do 7 month old's itch?
Poor baby. "if" it is Roseola my daughter's rash was gone in about 3 days.

Hi, Molli:

Call another Ped.
Sounds like measles or chicken pox or something else.

If it's not something else instead of Roseola, I would continue to give the Benadryl and just maybe give less if it made him too sleepy. I can't take that stuff myself unless I go to bed. :-( But he may need more doses of it until the rash is gone and just give a bit less. Also after you take it awhile you sometimes get less sleepy. If he's scratching badly it won't hurt him to sleep more as long as he's eating and drinking. You may want to take him back to the doctor if it last many days.

This link lists Roseola under rashes that itch although other sites don't say it itches.
