Roseola? - Flower Mound,TX

Okay, I am pretty sure my 15 month old has roseola. She started running a fever on Wednesday out of nowhere and I chalked it up to teething. Stopped fever on Friday and on Saturday saw a little rash by her diaper and today she has it all the way up her stomach and chest, back too. She is very crabby, but again not sure if that is from the teeth. (she is getting first molars)
So my question is this....Do I take her to the doctor or not? I have read they can't do anything for it, it just goes away.

What can I do next?

My son had a high fever for @ five days, and then it stopped, and he broke out in a rash. We went to the doctor but he did not prescribe anything. The rash did not seem to bother my son. After the fever was gone, he was back to his old little self.

The rash from roseola isn't supposed to be irritable. It just looks horrible. I would call just to make sure they don't think it could be something else going on. They will tell you if you need to go in or not. Hope this helps!

Nah, don't bother. Once the rash appears, it's almost done. The doctor won't do anything.

I probably wouldn't if her fever has broken.
My daughter had the worst case of Roseola EVER. The rash spread over her entire body including her scalp, palms of her hand and the soles of her feet. She was MISERABLE for three days - even though it is not supposed to itch, I think it must be pretty uncomfortable. The ped says that there is nothing that they can do for roseola ... but lukewarm baths may give some comfort. It all went away by the third or fourth day.
Good luck.

It just goes away and rash appears when fever breaks. Once rash appears, our PED said they are not contagious. My daughter had it at 13 mos. I say don't take your little one in- more chance of picking something else up while there! :)

Go online , type in roseola, and lookup images. Then lookup symptoms. make sure that is what you are dealing with before you NOT go to the doctor.

Fever is usually a sign of an infection. If the rash has spread that quickly and she is crabby, she is most likely pretty uncomoftable. Bring her in and see what they say. It couldn't hurt.

That's not long enough for the fever. Roseola is about 5 days to a week of very high fevers 103+ and at the time the fever breaks the rash breaks out and the acting sick stops.

I'd call the dr because several illnesses can cause a rash and some look similar to others. Our pediatrician always wants to see them if they have a rash it's very hard to diagnosis a rah but description alone.

You need to be more specific what does the rash look like? Flat or raised? Blotchy or like someone drew on her with a red marker? Does it blanch? Is it lacey in appearance? Does it feel rough?

My 14 month old just had Roseola about a month ago. Sounds like what you are dealing with. She started running fever out of the blue...it last 2-3 days and then almost as soon as the fever stopped, the rash came on. It was a flat rash, no bumps or raised areas. It did not seem to itch and she didn't seem uncomfortable (of course she wasn't teething though!!) If there are no other symptoms or causes for concern, I would wait and see how she does. If the rash doesn't go away or lessen in a few days, then a trip to the Pediatrician might be in order. Even if it's not Roseola, it's likely another type of viral rash and there really isn't anything they will be able to do. Of course, a raised, itchy rash could be a different story. Good Luck!

I'm pretty certain the roseola rash does not itch, it's just a rash that comes on after the initial fever. It should run its course in 3 to 7 days.

roseola does itch, my baby just had them 2 months ago. she started having rashes on her tummy the next day her face and neck... she was also teething then so she's a bit cranky.. i had her checked and the doctor gave her oral anti-allergy or anti-itch and paracetamol... roseola and measles are hard to diagnose... go to the pedia..

Sounds like roseola. My son did the same thing...high fever that lasted for a day or two, then when it broke a blotchy rash all over his body. No there's nothing you can do for it...just let it run it's course. I would wait another day or so before taking her in unless the symptoms get worse.
