My parents have offered to watch my kids for a night or two in August so my hubby and I can get away for his birthday. I've been googling it for a few days but nothing has jumped out at me! Looking for somewhere close, but am willing to drive a few hours also. We don't drink or gamble, and I am not willing to sleep in a tent:) Other than that, I am open to just about anything! A cabin at Hocking Hills is really nice! Most have hot tubs and are conveniently located near hiking trails and fishing. Just an idea..
I haven't been, but I hear wonderful things about Hocking Hills.
I second Gatlinburg- its not a bad drive at all. We went last summer and it took about 4.5 hours (I'm about 30-40 mins north of Cincinnati).
Maybe Sandusky? Never been there either, but I hear mostly good things.
Or, you could stay downtown. There are a lot of new restaurants from what I hear (I don't go too often) and you could go to a Reds game, thats always fun for me!
My husband and I did an overnight at Belterra once- but he does gamble. He went to the casino while I went to the spa and then we had dinner there. It was fun, minus the smoking indoors :(
Also look into Columbus and Indianapolis...lots to do both places.

Have you gone to Columbus? We always have fun there...albeit w/ the kids...but imagine it would be even more fun w/o them! :)
Try looking a Sybaris in Indianapolis. They have a very informative website at sybaris.com. My husband and I spent a weekend their last year and it is about the most romantic getaway ever! We had a fireplace, pool, spa tub and giant steam room INSIDE OUR ROOM - yes even the pool was in our room.
Yeah we don't have alot around here do we lol. (I live about 60 minutes from cincy in southeastern indiana) If you won't sleep in a tent how about a cabin. My parents went to Cumberland falls in KY for their honeymoon.
Hit a concert or Clippers game in downtown Columbus, then grab dinner in the short north, and maybe do brunch the next day at Easton and do some shopping!
I agree with those who mentioned Columbus, Ohio. I used to live there, and there were some amazing places to enjoy (art museums, the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, COSI for some fun, Easton Mall and Polaris Mall). My favorite area of the city is the Short North with its art galleries, funky boutique shops, and great restaurants. If it's still there, I suggest eating at The Happy Greek. :)
If you don't mind driving a bit, you can find little Nashville, Indiana, less than three hours west of Cincinnati. It's nestled in the rolling hills of Brown County, and part of the area is taken up by Brown County State Park. My husband and I actually honeymooned in Nashville because we didn't have much money to travel over ten years ago. We tried a great little B&B called Russell's Roost. The Russells were amazing hosts and had a lot to tell us about the area, so we really enjoyed our stay. I don't know if they're still there, but it might be worth your while to look them up. I know there are plenty of other B&B and rental cabins to enjoy in the surrounding hills as well as some inns/hotels in town. Nashville is known for it's arts community, and it's filled with all kinds of quaint shops and restaurants. You can take in a play, if the theater is still there, shop for unique gifts, and hike the state park with a picnic lunch. Nashville is super busy in the fall for the changing of the leaves and during Christmas time. It's also busy throughout the summer because of people who camp at the Park. I believe there is a new water park within Brown County State Park as well as the Abe Lodge, so you could even stay there and drive into Nashville for fun.

Or heck, just go across the river to Newport, Kentucky. They have some really cute b&bs and nice restaurants. And all in walking distance.
