Rolling over While Sleeping

My baby girl is 5 months old and has always been a great sleeper at night until recently. Now, she rolls over onto her tummy while she's sleeping and wakes herself up enough to fuss for her paci. Sometimes it's almost every hour! I have to go into her room and roll her back over, and she goes right back to sleep without any other coaxing. But, I'm back up again in 1-2 hours doing the same thing. Any suggestions on what to do? She has cereal before bedtime and we have a bedtime routine. She goes down without a problem.
Edited to ad: Sometimes she will go back to sleep on her tummy. But, the same thing happens in another hour or two. I've tried both letting her stay on her tummy and rolling her back over. I haven't seen a difference. Thanks though!

What can I do next?

I am going through the same thing with my 5 month old. He wakes up every two hours. He has never been a good sleeper but it has gotten worse and he won't just take his pacy and go back to sleep. I either have to rock him or nurse which I don't do for him to fall asleep. I just lay him in the crib to fall to sleep. So this business of them learning to put them self back to sleep if they go to sleep on their own does not work for every baby. I know none of this helps you but I just wanted you to know you are not alone. I hope someone has a good answer to this out there b/c I need some sleep.

Is she just wanting to sleep on her tummy? When my daughter was just a few months old, she all of a sudden did NOT want to sleep on her back! She had to be on her tummy. Maybe your daughter just needs her paci back & wants to sleep on her tummy??

Or if that's not it, do you have one of those sleep positioners? Maybe that will help keep her from rolling over.

Hi J. swaddling is for babies that cant roll over yet. You do not want to swaddle if she is rolling cause she will be trapped in the blanket. You may want to try the little device on the sides of her that wont let her roll over. Good luck and i promise it will eventuaaly stop.

J.,

I completely understand how you feel! I went through the exact same thing with my baby girl at the same age. I can tell you it will pass. My daughter actually stated sleeping better on her tummy; however, until your daughter learns to put her own paci in her mouth, you will probably stay sleep deprived. Through good advice from another mom, I started putting several paci's in her crib at night so she could locate one on her own. I remember the night she put her own paci in her mouth and went back to sleep. I wanted to celebrate!! Hang in there, she will get used to rolling over at night. Now my baby moves all around her crib at night and sleeps through it.

Hey, J., My son and his wife have a 3 month old and he was doing the same thing. They went out and bought a book about techniques to try. I am sorry I do not know the name(age does that to you)but BAM will help you. It is written by a doc. One suggestions was Swaddling! It works! He is now sleeping 7 hrs a night. Hope it helps.
