Hi there,
Could anyone suggest any activities I could do to help "inspire" my son to try rolling over from back to tummy? He has already learned how to roll over from tummy to back, but I thought maybe if I did certain activities, it could help him learn the other way.

Thanks!
A.

Hi A.,
When our son was a baby, we would just lay him on a blanket on the floor with toys around him to look at and he pretty much did it on his own. We would play with him a lot, and we also had a toy activity set that arched around him. You could also teach him by rolling him gently yourself. :-) Just keep at it and eventually he'll get the hang of it. Best wishes...G.

I know that babies usually take a little longer to roll over from their backs to tummy. It usually happens between 5 and 7 months. Try rolling him over both ways so that he gets used to the body movements. He'll eventually get used to it. Then get a toy that really grabs his attention and while on his back, move the toy in front of him to one side and slightly above his head so he can turn over. Moving the toy to the side and above his head encourages him to follow. Hope that helps.

You could try a playmat in which the textures and games are shown on the bottom and that way he will want to roll around and play on his tummy. Get one with water and fishes on it, those are always fun.

My daughter responded really well to following toys. Incentive usually works great, or making noises with toys or your voice. But, he will do it in his own timing too, so you can encourage him, but babies have an amazing instict to know what they have to do to achieve their milestones!!!

thanks,
A.

i would take a towel & roll it up & place it under one side of his back, so that way hes kinda on his side, that seemed to help my son learn

The way i helped my friends son roll over is to grab one of their hands and help them roll over so that they get the idea of using some support of their arm. Then put him back on his back and put something next to him that will peak his interest and he will suddenly do it. It might take a couple of times but he will do it. My daughter only did it at first with something that peaked her interest too. I hope this helps
