My 3 1/2 month old started rolling over in her crib from her back to her stomach and gets very upset because she can't fall asleep in that position. She doesn't know how to roll back over from her stomach to her back so she get's hysterical. She has been crying so hard that I have had to go in her room to roll her onto her back so she can fall asleep. Has anyone else had this problem, do you have any advice because this is really disrupting her sleep.

What I'd do is just go in as soon as she starts making noise, turn her back on her back, and leave quietly. If she cries, wait a couple minutes to see if she'll go back to sleep. If that works, just keeping doing it for the time being... it's only a short time until she learns to turn herself back over and then you won't have this problem anymore.

Yes, definitely do give her more tummy time. If she resists doing it on the floor, you can have her do her tummy time across your lap, with 1 knee slightly higher than the other to help her elevate her head. This is helpful for many babies who are not comfortable on their tummies.

if she rolls one way, say always over the right shoulder, then prop that shoulder against the side of the bed. She won't be able to roll. Another thing you can do is swaddle her really tight, that prohibits rolling in most kids as well.

I would try to give her a little extra "belly time" on the floor during the day, trying to get her used to being on her belly and maybe also help her roll over the other way. When shes asleep have you tried to use those like bumper pads they make for babies to not roll? maybe that would help...Best of luck!

Yes give her some extra tummy time during the day. Also, she will figure out how to fall asleep in whatever position she ends up in, if you allow her to do so. That is to say, I suspect this will work itself out in a week or so once she figures it out.

I just went through that with my son and still do on some nights. I rolled up a blanket and laid it next to him on the side he rolled over on and it did the trick. Good luck!
Also he learned to roll back over within 2 weeks but there are still times especially when he's half asleep he can't get himself back on his back. As frustrating as it is it's always exciting when they meet a new milestone.

It happens to lots of babies and is a short phase of disruption - then they learn to flip back over and also to be more comfortable on their tummies. My pediatrician told me when this happened to not worry, once they are strong enough to flip, he believes they are strong enough to lift their head and so crib deaths aren't so much of an issue. You may also want during the day to make sure baby is getting enough tummy time - many don't like it much but after a while get used to it but it is very important for their development. good luck.
