Hi all. Kind of a weird thing is happening with me. My right breast is noticeably bigger than my left breast and I don't know why. I am breast feeding four times a day and I'm trying to let my LO suck longer on the left side to see if the right side will go down. Not sure why or what to do? It's funny looking in the mirror and seeing them. I mean, one is like a small B cup and the other is I'd say a largeeee B cup!! Any suggestions???

What can I do next?

I favor the other side, so I have the opposite problem, because I'm right handed. It's totally normal, and I just wouldn't worry about it. I've been trying to start on the small side more frequently, and that way they sort of take turns, which breast is larger, but it goes back the way it is because in the end I still favor holding my son on the left side. If you want to get really serious I would 1-wear a padded bra that won't show the difference and 2- pump after feedings for 5 minutes just on the small side to increase production over there. Don't be self-conscious because other people can't tell.

I would just keep doing what you are doing. Sometimes babies favor one breast more than the other and so they prefer to nurse longer on that side. So just have her nurse more on the left side and the right side should settle down. But sometimes it takes awhile for the breast to not make as much milk so give it a good week or two and they should be more even.

I noticed my right breast was larger than my left and within a week I ended up with mastitis... Not sure if this is the same situation but just be sure to empty both breasts, it worked for me!

Have you tried actually starting more of the nursing sessions on the left? Normally you're supposed to trade off which side you start on, but they do take more milk on the side they start on. So perhaps if you always start her on the left and go longer, just until things even up a bit, it could help. Good luck!
