Hello Mommas

Does anyone know where I can get UK produce in Chicago? I am looking for diluting juice/squash mainly and possibly some PG Tips? I'm in the City of Chicago...

Also, for those UK mums out there. I've brought a supply of formula (aptimel) but as my wee one is such a guzzler I fear I will run out very soon. Can you recommend a good US formula...do they have different ingredients that aren't allowed in the UK.

Thanking you all in advance

What can I do next?

Welcome fellow Brit! I haven't had much joy finding Robinsons or indeed any squash but did find some Ribena at Treasure Island. You can also buy baked beans, heinz spaghetti, chocolate hobnobs, salad cream etc there (albeit at hugely inflated prices!) if you feel you need a fix. World Market also does a small range of similar Brit food including Cadburys. Wholefoods sells Marmite. I haven't managed to find PG tips but i haven't looked as hard for it so it might be out there.

As for formula, can't really help as i haven't used it but i would say to check the label on any you buy as i have heard (and i might be completely wrong on this) that some brands have high fructose corn syrup in - this is not something i have ever seen in the UK but it is in so many things here as a sugar substitute and not something i would want to give myself letalone my baby!

Good luck.

Not from UK, but we still courtesy to the Queen in NZ! Ditto to Kate K's comments. There is also a British Store in Texas I think - might be something closer, I'm sure you wouldn't want to drive there!
Here is a link - not sure how prices are, but they charge shipping by weight.

Next time you go back to UK you'll have to set aside an empty bag to bring back more goodies, like when I go back to NZ!
Not sure what to recommend for formula. I used Enfamil, but am no expert. If you belong to Costco you can buy bulk cheaper, but they don't have a large selection.
Welcome to Chicago - you'll enjoy all there is to do with little ones!

The Dominicks on Clybourn has a great UK section...teas, sweets, baked beans, biscuits, custards, and they definitely have Ribena! Yum!

Hi and welcome to Chicago! Although not from the UK, I did live there for two years. We order our PG tips now from amazon.com (along with diapers and so much more). Not sure where you are in the city, but the Jewel on Foster/Pulaski carries some British products like McVitie's. I don't have a lot of information on formula, but I do give my son Enfamil Premium sometimes. Dominick's sells an organic formula under their own brand, O Organics.

yep... Jewel sells PG tips and a few other UK goodies. Don't know about the diluting juice or formula though. Welcome and good luck!

You could try World Market for the tea.

What kind of squash are you looking for? If it's gem squash I'm afraid I've never seen any here - but Whole Foods in general carries a wider variety of produce than say, Dominicks.

Good luck.

I'm not sure where you're located - on the south side, there is a place called Winston's in Tinley Park, which also has (or used to have) a location near Midway Airport. They specialize in Irish/UK groceries & they have a deli/butcher counter where you can get bangers, rashers, black & white pudding, etc. I've seen Ribena there. Also, the Jewel on 103rd & Cicero in Oak Lawn has PG Tips & Barry's tea in their international section, as well as Cadbury candy, Lucozade & other western European specialties.
