Hi,
I have a 10 month old and while I tie her shoes, I say "make a base, then loop, swoop and pull"...I actually got this from the Adam Sandler movie, "Big Daddy"...it's short, sweet and to the point... :)
Does anyone know or remember the childrens rhymes/sayings to teach them how to tie their shoes? This would help my five year old remember the steps. I can't remember the one that was taught to me - something about a rabbit running around a tree and going in a whole (?). I'm embarrasing myself, lol. Please help!

Hi T.,
Take a look at this website, it had some ideas for learning to tie shoes.

Ok, go rent Raising Helen w/ Kate Hudson that saying is what is used in that movie to teach the little girl how to tie her shoes. It is toward the beginning after Kate gets the children to NY. It is about rabbits and running around a tree and going into a hole. I am sorry that I cannot remember it, but at least I remembered where I had heard it.
I have been trying to figure out that same little song to help my 5 yr old....lol. If u find out let me know please
I don't remember it being a rhyme but it I say. The rabbit jumps over his brother and up the hole. Make a tree the rabbit jumps around the tree and then jumps back into the hole.
I hope this helps.
Here's one version off a poster by reallygoodstuff.com...
One lace per hand, you’ve got it right.
Let them dance then pull them tight.
Make a loop like a bunny’s ear.
Wrap the other around, careful as you steer.
Make another ear, and pull it through.
The dance is done, YOU TIED YOUR SHOE!
