Revitalizing After Miscarriage (Blighted Ovum) Advice

I have been undergoing IUI treatments (4 months running) to try for our second pregnancy. We have an 18 month old that I am just 6 months off nursing. I am 41 years old.

This month I was elated to hear we were confirmed pregnant with the blood test, but then 2 days later that the HCG level has dropped so low that we are no longer pregnant.

I have not had a cycle yet since this news, I am waiting for my body to naturally take care of the process.

I am looking for any advice you may have for cleansing and healing from this experience and moving toward fertility. I am generally healthy (I eat very healthy) but I haven't really ever gotten back into working out since baby 1, due to working full time. I plan to start regular workouts for one thing. I was thinking that people may have had some experiences with cleansing or accupuncture, or any recommendations I may not have thought of.

Also, there is no known cause of the infertility - I pass every test with flying colors and so does my husband. With baby 1 we were pregnant with the first IUI, but not so lucky this time.
Thanks for your kind words, in advance!!

What can I do next?

Hello,

Have you ever heard of Mayan Abdominal Massage? I don't know where you are located, but here's a site for a very knowledgeable practitioner in my area. http://www.fertilebeing.com/ Catherine is very warm and I'm sure she can refer you to someone in your area if you contact her. I attended a discussion that Catherine held a few months ago, and it sounds like this type of massage could benefit many women who have fertility issues. I was certainly impressed by her own experience with the massage.

Oh, and I just found this site too - http://arvigomassage.com/practitioners_list.php. It appears to list providers by location.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss and wish you the best.

K.

Acupuncture can help. Also, try chiropractic care to get proper alignement for proper blood flow to all organs. Try to locate a Mayan Abdominal Massage practitioner in your area, also called the Arvigo technique. This is particularly helpful for women with unexplained inertility and if the uterus is slightly out of position.

Hi--
While I didn't have trouble with any type of infertility, I did have a miscarriage. To help get my hormones back in balance (lost the baby due to low progesterone levels) I took the herb chaste tree berry (also known as vitex). It balances out all your hormones at the pituitary level (the master endocrine gland). It did take a little time ( a couple months) but we got pregnant the first time we tried after balancing my hormones---and out popped baby number two exactly nine months later :-)
Good luck!
J.

I do not have any history with infertility but I have had miscarraiges. I had no trust in my body's ability to make and carry a baby full term follwing two miscarraiges in three years time. I was lucky enough to be in classes that focus on women's health and well being while in college and they taught me that contemporary cultrue teaches us (women) to disconnect from our bodies. We learn to live our whole lives in our heads rather than taking full advantage of the miracle of our bodies. I felt that I was an extreme example of this following my miscarraiges. Maybe if you try 20 mins of yoga (yoga seems like a good fit for you based on your post) a day you will feel that you have that all important connection between mind and body. Maybe then your body will catch up with your mind as it thinks "I'm ready for another baby".
Whatever your choice I wish you good luck. The heartache of losing a baby can be completely overwhelming but you can and will recover. You can and will be stronger for having experienced it. You are a woman of the millenium-there is nothing we can't do.

Let me start by saying I'm very sorry for your loss. Stress can be another huge factor for infertility. I also recommend doing acupuncture, especially with someone who has experience in fertility. Hang in there mama! What is meant to be will be in it's own time.

Dear Mario,
I had my first child at 39 with Clomid. When we tried for a second, we went through rounds of Colmid and then shots. With each cycle I became more and more stressed out thinking about what I was doing wrong and could possibly change. I was 42 when we tried in-vitro. The doctors had given us a 15-20% chance of getting pregnant with a 1-3% chance of having multiples. The first time (like the previous times) I took off from work and rested all day after the procedure. Two weeks later they told me I was pregnant but soon after we lost the baby. The second time we tried in-vitro, I decided that mother nature could be a real b----- and life was tough. If I was meant to get pregnant the baby would also have to be tough to make it. I stopped worrying about what I could change or do differently, and decided to accept whatever happened. After the procedure I took a long walk and then went about my day as usual. Soon after we found out we were pregnant with twins! They're healthy and yes, they're tough. I guess what I'm saying is (and I realize it's probably the hardest thing in the world for you to do right now) is just relax and let nature take its course. Good luck!

The only story/advice I have is when my girlfriend wanted a baby so bad she did go the fertility route - for 7 YEARS!!! By this time she was sad, frustrated, crabby, you name it! I felt so bad for her, especially having watched her go through all this. I finally just told her to stop it all, it was too frustrating, and too hard on her body. I ventured to tell her that if she just put it out of her mind and let nature take over she would be pregnant in 6 months (she was 40 at the time). She took my advice and stopped all treatments, she finally felt like a human again and even planned a cruise. She actually took it further than I thought she would and decided she wasn't going to have babies at all. Big step, I think she was just done stressing over it. Needless to say, 5 months later she was pregnant and now has a beautiful healthy 9 year old girl that is the light of her life!

In short, I think she just needed to decompress and not worry. Babies just do not do well with stress and anxiety. I say just let it be and nature will take it's course. = )

As far as a miscarriage, there is no easy way to get over those, I have had a very late-term miscarriage and will say it was one of the hardest things I ever dealt with. The one thing that helped me through it was the fact that I knew that baby wasn't healthy and I would never want to watch my child grow up in poor condition, it would be too heartbreaking. Again, nature has a way of taking care of us even when it hurts.

I am sure everything will be fine for you, just hang in there and good luck to you!

SO sorry for your loss. I was young, in my 20's when I had problems carrying babies. I know that I had a hormonal disorder. My estrogen level was way too high to carry them full term. Everything we eat affects us. Progesterone keeps the pregnancy going, estrogen makes us lose the pregnancy. I found out about this after I was done having babies. If you are a milk drinker, or love cheese, or eat beef, you are estrogen dominant, unless they are certified organic. Estrogen is usually the birth control of choice for most doctors. Estrogen stays in the body a very long time, usually years after taking the pill. Estrogen dominance affects so much of our lives. When I stopped eating meat, and drinking hormone laced milk, I got better. I no longer suffered from PMS, monthly weight gain, headaches, mood swings. I feel better than I have in years. I am now 48, going through menopause the easy way. For your cleanse. I recommend Isagenix. They are the leading cleanse and nutrition company in the world. Please check out my web page and go to the isa videos. view "Are You Toxic" and what ever else you are interested in. Its an easy program to follow and very good tasting. I hope you find this helpful. http://phytomom.isagenix.com. Good luck, and good health!

Yes, I have been studying this stuff for a while.

Anything that affects your thyroid will affect it.High estrogen especially.

Chlorine is a known fertility reducer,(estrogen mimicer) so get a tap filter.

So is soy. Soy is in almost everything, read labels for soy isolate, soy protien, soy extract, hydrolized protien, soy casienate, soybean oil, soya, etc. Don't eat it.

Corn products can affect fertility if the corn was infected with fungus in the silo. Fungus affects the thyroid (estrogen mimicer).

Iodine helps fertility.(lugols can be put in water, or iodine can be put on skin, or Idoral can be purchased in pill form on line). Take vit E with it for uptake. An EXCELLENT high source of vit E is raw palm oil (it has a red/orange color). some people might not be able to deal with the taste. some people love the taste.

Magnesium helps fertility. Mangesium malate or citrate. Just cut back the dose a little if you get loose stool. Take vit B complex LIQUID UNDER THE TOUNGE, with it.

Coconut oil (raw, virgin) is needed to make progesterone (pro-gestation) and keep estrogen in balance. Take 2 T a day off the spoon, raw.

Have your husband do the same as above.
