Hi,
I have a 3 yr and a 4 1/2 yr and I wanted to join them in a good Pre-K program. I looked at a few. Among them are TLC Child development in Plano on hedgecoxe. I wanted to get a review/comments about this Pre-school/Daycare before I join them. Could someone please give me feedback.

Thanks

Generally an okay daycare as the staff has been friendly and my son loves the swings and loves looking at the items hanging from the ceilings. I would rate a 3 out of 5 because they gave my son someone else's pacifier. They also put another child's bottle in my son's bag, even though the bottles and our bag and cubby's were both clearly labelled. They assured me that my son didn't drink from that bottle, which I believe. However I also saw on the webcam that a child had rolled off the play mat onto the floor where adults normally walk with their shoes and the teacher didn't put him back on the mat for quite a while. I was told the infants are only placed on the mat and not on the floor and that the mat is washed with bleach every night. All of these things happened within 2 weeks of my son starting at this daycare. Makes me a little concerned about continuing him at this daycare, but at the same time, I know that the more he gets sick now, the better off he'll be as a toddler.

I don't know anything about TLC, but my son attends Smart Montessori in Plano, near McDermott and Independence....it is a wonderful school. It is an in home Montessori, but is run more professionally than any school we have had experience with, and my son is happy and doing very well.
If you would like to contact the school the owner is Tawnya Smart and the number is ###-###-####.
I highly recommend this school...you should at least check it out. Thanks and good luck!

I am not sure about TLC but I would check out Primrose School of Forest Creek on Coit and Hedgcoxe! They are an accredited private preschool, not a daycare and truly are all about education. The Pre-K program there is actually a Kindergarten curriculum and most kids are reading by the time they finish the Pre-K program! I know they are having an open house on Jan 29th from 6-8pm, stop by then or just stop by anytime, they have an open door policy! Hope you find what you are looking for!

Hi, my daughter attended TLC Hedgecoxe since she was 2 (she's now 5), and we all loved it. Other than the internet access they have, I also like the breakfast they offer in the morning. I never have to worry about feeding my kids in the morning. As long as your drop off your kid before 8:00 am, they are able to finish their breakfast in their classroom. I also really like the summer time - they always have creative activities every week. Water slides, splash day, animal shows, petting zoo, puppet shows, etc. My 5 year old is in her last year at TLC before kindergarten, she knows and writes all her upper and lower case alphabets; try to write her name with neat hand writing; knows her numbers and doing simple math. The only thing she isn’t able to do is reading, which I am sure one day the light bulb will turned on, and she finally gets it. In general, I am happy with what she has learned in school.

With all the private schools and Montessori schools around, it’s hard to determine which school is the best for our kids. One thing for sure is I will taking my new born to TLC when I am ready to go back to work. There’s no need to look and compare for me this time around.

Please feel free to send me PM if you have more questions, or will like to learn more about the school.

Before you decide anything, you must check out Canyon Creek Day School at Coit and Spring Creek. It is AMAZING! By two kids went there, and they got an incredible jump start on their education. You'll be amazed to see your 4/5 year old reading chapter books, and having a blast! J.

Just some educated suggestions as a mom of 3 older children. Check out the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services web site and check out there past licensing visits to see if they have any deficiencies. Everyone has there own preferences but by my experiences I perfer a smaller school setting. Larger schools seem to be hetcic and less focused on the important things. Also another important thing is teacher to child ratios. A school that goes by LOWER than state ratios are always better, your child will get more attention. My youngest child went to a Primrose school in Pre K and Kindergarten and I couldn't have been happier. The ratios were lower, it is a small home type educational school. They focused on the balanced child, everything is an important part of there day including academic, social, physcial, and emotional development My daughter is now 13 and I feel she got her educational foundation at Primrose and I am very thankful for that. I also have a good friend and her girls now attend Primrose and she is also a Kindergarten Teacher and she says in the first 2 weeks of a school year she can tell a student that has attended a Primrose School. I believe her girls go to the Primrose on Hedgcoxe as well. So in short before I made my decision I would check out Primrose School.

I do not have personal experience, but a couple of my friends boys attend TLC and they are happy with them.

One of the friends had a very bad experience at another day care and was very cautious when choosing the next day care, and this is the one she selected.

Good luck in your search, I will be doing the same as you soon too and TLC is on my list.

My daughter went to TLC off of democracy in Plano (the sister school to the one you are referencing). This was a few years ago so take it as you will. I have a brother that was harmed by a day care worker and therefore is in a wheel chair for life so I'm extremely particular with who I leave my daughter with. One thing I really liked was the internet access to be able to log and and see my daughter at any time. That being said, for the money that we were paying I truly thought my daughter would get more out of it. They touted it as a beginning to education, but they didn't really work on the reading/writing that they said they were going to. I wish I would have sent her to a place more focused on pre-education. I think it would have helped her in school. I doubt the people that worked there back then are still there so I don't think that their incompetance really applies. Good luck in your search!
