Reusable Toddler Cups

Does anyone know of a reusable cup that would be good for daycare? I run an in-home daycare and use the Gerber Take and Toss Cups but am constantly trowing them away. I would like something that is BPA free but doesnt wear out right away. If I could find something that is dishwasher safe that would be great, too. I obviously dont want to use glass but wood or something like it would be great. I try handwashing the Gerber Cups but I just dont have the time or energy. Im willing to spend a little more since I wont be buying new cups everytime they get scratched or chewed on.

What can I do next?

Hey B.! You're so awesome! Congrats on the baby, BTW.

I was just going to add that those Gerber color change ones don't spill! They are amazing. They are plastic, so eventually the tops need to be replaced, but they last a long time & are dishwasher safe. I like them because I don't have to worry about my kids running around with milk and leaving "milk spots" everywhere!

I haven't seen any wood ones, but I would ask Melanie, Clare, Dawn or Today Show Debbie from the group. They seem to have a wealth of information about that kind of stuff.

I'm not sure if you are looking for sippy cups or regular cups, but IKEA has some inexpensive ones that are dishwasher and microwave safe (we have them). They also carry plates and bowls that match. Here is the link to look at them - you have to go in the store to buy them... http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10096907

Hope this helps!

Good for you! What I wouldn't do to find a day care that cared about such things! Check out http://www.agobservatory.org/library.cfm?refid=77083

This is a great source of information on "smart plastics" from the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy in Minneapolis. Scroll to the bottom for tips for bottles and sippy cups.

When I was growing up my mom had a daycare and she used the tupperware-like cups with the clearish/white lids. Now that I have kids I searched everywhere for them and finally found them at the dollar store. Three for a dollar. They are different colors so each kid can have their own color and they have lasted me a while.

Not all plastic has BPA. Try this link:

I usually look for a 4 or 5 on the bottom of the cup, which apparently means they are made with plastic not containing BPA.
