I've been to almost every temp agency in town and have yet to find a job and I've been searching since Feb 07... If I don't find a job VERY soon my husband and 2 children and I are going to lose our house... I'm new to Texas and didn't think that finding work would be this darn hard... Every temp agency I went to told me they only had jobs for Bi-Lingual people and since I don't speak a lick of spanish I'm out of luck there... I have been looking into something that I can work from home doing but no luck there either... I can do anything, I'm very multi talented... I was looking for Admin Assistant work or something in IT... I went to a few IT temp agencies and all they had was Senior level work which I don't qualify for. My husband seems to think that I need to work from home or something but I want a "REAL" job... I'm hoping that someone can send me something that will actually work... A temp agency that REALLY has work or a recruiter that can help me out... I'm NOT looking for dead end leads as I've had enough of them already, and starting to get depressed over it honestly...

Kids go to daycare up the street and hubby works downtown Dallas (Arts District) I've been on careerbuilder and monster and craigslist and a few others since Jan... Applied to almost everything on there that didn't require me to be bi-lingual! Thanks again!
What kind of IT background do you have? Where would you be traveling from? Would you be interested in being a recruiter??
What about being a nanny or providing private childcare in your home and you could do away with daycare cost. I have a few friends who have that kind of childcare for thier children...a mother that keeps thier children in her home with her own children. Good Luck!
Have you tried searching monster.com or careerbuilder.com or even the classifieds? I know they sound really obvious but you never know.
I don't have much personal experience with temp agencies, but the law firm I used to work for used Imprimis a lot; they did a lot of temp to perm. You may want to check with some of the local junior colleges; they have programs to update your skills with word, excel, etc. You may qualify for low-cost or no cost; and perhaps you can get some assistance with child care while you are in school if you qualify. You may need to take just any job, even if it's retail or whatever, just to get back into the workforce so that prospective employers can see you manage the juggling act of parenting & working. That is, if they pay enough to cover child care. I know many moms with very young children take jobs at child care places or mother's day outs, so that their children are cared for free while they make some extra money. Not the most glamourous position in the world, but certainly practical. good luck
Go to Express Personnel Temp agency. That is how I got my job for Sprint distrubution center in Grand Praire. I know that our company always goes thru them and the temps start out at 10 something an hour here and you can always volunteer to work overtime. I also hear that if you just go to Microsoft.com that they have free help on learning their different databases and systems. Good luck.
Look into Matrix, Tech Star or K Force for a temp or perm low-level IT job ... My husband is a manager in IT (no current openings in his group now) and he uses Matrix when he needs to find people. He says all these temp agencies will work hard to put your resume in front of people.
If your IT skills are out of date...Matrix has online help guides that can help you get up to speed on skills.

I just went through AppleOne staffing and got offered a job that I really wanted and was qualified for. You can check them out on the web on their website at www.AppleOne.com for different locations and to fill out your online resume and other nessary info for faster results. I went to the one below. It's good in that online you can set up your own interview time and date to suit you. Just remember to take your resume. They are really nice. My staffing consultant Cassandra Piott got right to looking for a job for me the first day and has consantly been in contact with me via email since day one and got me an interview within 2 days of meeting her.

Look around the area close to home. Have you thought about the school district, the city, etc.? Even substitute school teaching. Usually when you get into a school and do a good job they will request your services as a substitute over anyone else. There are lots of jobs within the school system that don't even deal with teaching, if that's not your venue. Most of their jobs offer benefits, which is really important. City services offer many areas of expertise, too. Libraries....etc.

When I needed work I had great luck with Burnett's Staffing, and I don't speak a word of Spanish either. Also, be sure to get your stuff out on the internet. I've had many friends with very little job skills get hired into admin work from monster or careerbuilder, so I'm sure if you are well qualified, you'll have even more leads. The biggest thing I found, was to make sure my resume was perfect. I thought I had a great resume, and it turned out it needed a lot of work. The Texas Workforce Commission has free classes with professionals to help you get it updated. Also a good resource for a job.
