I was told it is illegal for them to take it back. I took it to a food pantry who claimed they could not take it.
Walmart also wouldn't let me trade diapers if she outgrows them which I don't understand. I went to Target and they traded.
I had a friend give me 20 cans of formula. I will not be using that type. Could I take it back to Wal mart and trade it in?
Thanks, I never thought about the wic thing. I know she paid for it but I guess the store wouldn't know that. It is truly sad people get this stuff from the state for FREE & try to make money off of it. I will donate it.

You would have to ask them to be sure. There was one time that we accidentally picked up the wrong kind of formula. As we had a receipt, Kroger let us exchange it for the correct one.
They can't take formula back due to possible tampering. I would suggest finding another friend that could use it. Or maybe a church. I know our church has taken unopened cans and passed it out with the food shelf.
I don't think so. Why don't you donate it to your local WIC office?
Since it's unlikely that the store will take it back, you might be able to get with a friend who uses that type...when she goes to the store to buy hers, ask that she get your type. Then give her what you have.
That's the best solution I have.
Or give it to a shelter.
I would donate it--there are usually a lot of food drives this time of year.
most stores will not take formula back even with a reciept i would give it to someone else or to a homeless or womens shelter
Most likely not without a receipt. I wouldn't want to buy returned formula, would you?
.
Call walmart and ask a manager. Chances are that unless you have the actual receipt they will say no.
The reason why is that receipts are not given with WIC and formula is a WIC item. They would not exchange this or refund it due to this issue. If the item was a WIC purchase they can get in all kinds of trouble but if the manager isn't thinking of that they may say yes to exchange it only.
Don't tell them any extra information. You didn't pick it up, hubby did or a friend, they don't need to know it was a gift unless you tell them it was a shower gift or some other thing like that.
I know Target will take them if they carry that brand and will give you store credit without a receipt.
Craigslist
Formula is a high theft item because it's so expensive. Women that get it free on WIC also try to take it to the store to get the $. SO, many stores refuse to take it back. What you can do is sell it on craigslist. People that don't get it for free, but dont make a lot of money check craigslist to buy formula from the wic moms that are breastfeeding and dont need it for thier babies, but need the money.
