I am looking for a new restaurant to try for our anniversary next month. We don't get nights out too often so I am looking forward to it! We went top the Chop House last year...looking for something new! Thanks!

What can I do next?

We love Carnivale on Fulton Market Street. Easy to get to - $5 valet parking and fun. Happy Anniversary!

My all time favorite restaurant is in the city...On North Wells in Old Town. It's about a block or so south of North Ave. Fireplace Inn...Wonderful steaks and BBQ chicken..Cottage fries are a must! Make a reservation for INSIDE if you want quiet..they have an outdoor area like a sports bar that is horribly noisy, but inside you can't hear a thing. It's beautiful and the food can't be beat! Then you can walk around Wells St...The Fudge Pot is nearby to buy some great candy for dessert!

I love to go to La Creperie in Lincoln Park. It is a very authentic French bistro, small, romantic and the crepes are delicious! Not 'fancy' exactly, but very traditional and quaint. website is: http://www.lacreperieusa.com/

If you want something more modern that isn't in the city, I absolutely recommend Prasino in La Grange. It is a very modern 'green' bistro and we went there for a romantic dinner a couple of months ago. It's very modern, but comfortable, the food and cocktails were great and my husband liked it too. The avocado/lobster/mango starter was terrific and my husband had the grilled skirt steak. I also had the Farm flatbread with goat cheese, chives and honey... it was so yummy! Cafe la Cave...it's in Des Plaines or Rosemont, right across from the Rosemont Theater. VERY intimate romantic meal. Not cheap...but good food, excellent service, and convenient to either the Theater or Muvico movie theater.

Someone already suggested fondue at Geja's, but if you are looking for a suburban option - and possibly cheaper option???, we do The Melting Pot every year for ours. At the Buffalo Grove location, you can request a private table (has doors or curtain - ask for the doors). I'm sure this is available at other locations too.
