Julie, awesome idea I hadn't thought of that!!
Cindy, do you drink a lot when you answer?
Okay maybe not the second one but you get the idea.
Oh my goodness - I have gotten several awesome responses already. How do I respond to a specific response? Also, what would ya'll do about all of the missed school days? He has doctor's notes for them - and we are in contact with his teacher all of the time (he is in kinder.) But he has missed alot, and he will be out a week or so after the surgery as well.
Thanks so much!! So happy to have found this site! :)

S.: Welcome to Mamapedia.
Jo: Not yet, but maybe I'll start? (-:
Like Jo said, you use the SWH (So What Happened) feature. This site isn't like facebook. You can also click on someone's name and then click on "send so-and-so a private message" if you want to ask them a further question or for more advice.
About the missed school days. You need to find out what the maximum amount of school days he can miss are. I think it might be 20 days. If that's the deal, you might want to withdraw him from school and homeschool him from now through the summer. If you can get him up to speed working with him at home, maybe they'll let him enter first grade. They can test him in August to see if he's learned enough with you. It will also give him a chance to get over this sick spell.
Good luck!

It would not be tragic if he needed to repeat kindergarten, but kids are so smart these days, I doubt that will be necessary. You can teach him what his teacher is recommended at home.
Hope you have the opportunity to see Dr. Gina or Dr. Michael before you select surgery. There are peds that feel the tonsils help fight off illness that could be worse then what's been going on. Important to weigh the pros and cons and get a second opinion when it comes to surgery.
You can add more info by clicking on edit or you can respond such as you did here by clicking on So What Happened. SWH is where you'd make public comments to the posts you've received.
If you want to comment to an individual privately click on that person's name which will send you to their site. On their site click on Send a private message.
I'm glad you're finding this site helpful.
Keeping in touch with the teacher and having your son do make up work at home when assigned by the teacher is really good. You may be able to get his work that he'll miss ahead of time so that you and he can work on it during the week he's out of school.
See if his teacher can put together a home study for the days he will be gone for the surgery. Most teachers are willing to do it. In California if you are going to miss more than 5 days due to surgery, travel, or something along those grounds and do a home study the absences aren't counted. They are usually very willing to do it here because the school will still get their daily pupil rate if the home study is completed even if the child is absent.
Kindergarten is not mandatory is it?
