I came across those adds for the children's resell shops. Has any one ever done this? Is it worth the effort, I mean do you get a resonable amount of money for your items? I have alot of clothing and alot of it almost new, I was just woundering if it is worth going and taking the clothes and baby items. If you have done this please tell about your experiance. Thanks moms!!

What can I do next?

I did do this a few times in the past. They took a lot of my baby stuff, the rest I just gave to good will. The amount the I received wasn't to bad. I would recommend this to anyone looking to make a little bit of money. Plus it is helping someone else who is looking to buy at a lower price. Of course they are not going to take stuff that is in bad condition.

I have never gone to one, but have you considered selling your items on Ebay? Of course it's a slower process, however, you WILL make more money!

I have done this before and I think its worth it if there nice people. I went to 2 shops and one place was very good and friendly (on capitol dr & pilgrim) and the other place (wich is now out of business) was very unfriendly and it seemed to be a hassle and not enouph money coming back to even be worth it.
My opionion would be to go and check out a few of the places and see what they'll offer you in return. I think I got 40% years ago.
You also have to have everything in tip top shape, like ironed, cleaned (no stains at all) and on hangers. That was my experience anyway.
So it may be worth it to you but it would work just as well or better to just have your own rummage sale. I did that too and sold stuff a lot faster.
Hope this helps some.

I did that once. They are extremely picky about what they take. They picked out one box full (out of about 4 boxes) and handed me about $25. I didn't even get the chance to see what they picked or agree/disagree with how much they gave me. I won't do that again.
I used to always put them on eBay and they sold really well, probably made about $1000 in a year of selling all of our infant/toddler clothes. I haven't been having as much luck on eBay with the older kids clothes, and the fees are so much now that I've pretty much given up on eBay all together. I also tried Craig's List once. I got about 14 replies of people who were interested and only one person followed through and came over, bought 2 items. I had about 100 pieces to sell. I tried a rummage sale this summer and that was the most successful, but a LOT of work. At this point I'm about ready to give it all away. I still have boxes & boxes in the basement. Maybe if you got together with some other moms with lots of clothes to sell, you could advertise as a 'kids clothes only' rummage and that would probably go pretty well. I also think it makes a huge difference to have the clothes on hangers rather than in a pile or box.

I've taken my clothes to Playroom Closet, but they are very picky on the clothing and you don't get a lot of money. At New to You Kids they give you the money right there, but again are very picky. Mom & Me is a rip off.

I have sold baby/toddler clothes and toys at New To You Kids (Capitol and 124th) and Once Upon a Child (North and 124th). My experiences have been good overall. I usually sort through the clothes and save out anything really nice that I'd like to pass along to a friend, put anything that is really worn or stained at all in the Goodwill pile and the rest I take to resell. I usually start with Once Upon a Child because I like the store better, the people are nicer and the amount of money they pay is better. Anything that they don't take, I take over to New To You Kids. Between the two, I usually sell about 60-70% of what I take in. Most of what I take has only been worn by one or two children and so far the clothes have been mostly for babies and toddlers. I think it is easier to sell those age groups because they aren't worn as long. Anyway, I hope that helps!
