I want to bring some of my son's clothes to Once Upon a Child or Kid to Kidz to sell. Does anyone have a preference or suggestion on which one is better?

What can I do next?

I would save them and have a yard sale. I get more money for my items that way. Both re-sale shops offer pennies on the dollor. It was crazy they only wanted to give me $40.00 for 3 tubs of polo, tommy, and other name brand clothes and shoes, barely worn and one tub of toys.

It used to be that you could drop off any time at Once Upon a Child, but don't expect to get much of anything for your stuff. You can get a little more if you opt for store credit vs. cash. I usually sell by the lot (i.e. all my kids clothes from one season bundled together) on Craig's List as well and make more than the resale shops.

I think you would get so much more satisfaction if you donated them.

I would save them for a consignment sale. Kid to Kid probably won't take most of your stuff, depending on what you have and you won't get much for your effort I have found.

My favorite consignment sale is the Just Between Friends sale in Fort Worth. The spring summer sale is the next one. It is in March, I believe. You can go to jbfsale.com to find out more info.

I have consigned several times now and am planning on continuing to do so. I always make enough money to buy whole new wardrobes (including shoes & sometimes toys)for the next two seasons, for both of my kids. Of course I buy their clothes at the sale. The women who own the Ft. Worth one, Joanie & Pam, really have it together so it is not too hard at all to consign. You get to shop early if you consign too. I volunteered last time and got to shop even earlier. That really is how you get the best deals!

If you decide to consign, I'd love it if you would put me as your reference because I can make a higher percentage that way. Just put A. Myers #3252 as your reference!

Good Luck!

Kid to Kid but you need an appointment. And they only buy in season. Call around to a couple near you and ask what sizes they're currently buying and what season. If you're looking to sell toys and gear sell it on Craigslist you are much more likely to get what you want for it.

I often go to Kid to Kid, but never expect to get much for my kids clothes. Many are even name brand and barely worn. I figure I can take them in and get a little money but whatever they don't use I just let them donate. I think the different stores give to different charities, but it is good to know they will go to good use. I often only get about $20 or so for a couple of tubs of items. For me the money is a bonus.

S., I live in Euless also. Call your local elementary school and ask for a counselor. The Hurst-Euless-Bedford School District has a place called the Clothes Closet that has clothes, outerwear, shoes, etc. for families in the district that are in need of these items. They give them out for free. I think that this is a great way to give to people in need without them having the added expense of buying these things, especially with the way the economy is and people have lost their jobs.

Hi S.- I also think donating them would be the best bet- but now-a-days I am sure the extra money is a concern so that is why you are going that route- Here is a great consignment idea Divine Consign- I went to a sale of theirs and it was great and very organzied- what they DONT take- you can donate- http://www.divineconsign.net/-you can even purchase very inexpensively.

Donations can go to Kara Morey at All Church Foster home for children in Fort Worth or to Shari Markey at the Dallas Advoacacy center for abused children. Also- a local battered womens shelter would just love the donation for women trying to get back on their feet. I can send you more info if needed
