I was wondering if it was just me. I have a new reptile cage about 30 to 40 gallon with locking screen tops for all different kinds of reptiles along with a heater, bowl, packing, book, heating lamp and it was never used. I can't find out where to announce that I'm selling this cage as it is I guess for a unique crowd. Do you have any advice to where I can post this and get it sold? It is taking up so much room and I could use the money. I did try craigslist and didn't get any bites. Not sure if there is a good area to post it on craigslist as I'm not a pro with them. If you also have any advice of how to post on craigslist etc as maybe some of you's are pro's in this area. It is so hard to find anyone who is interested in purchasing but I thought a lot of people have all sorts of reptiles. Please help. Thanks

What can I do next?

This is not the forum to post it for sale.

Craigslist is the best place to get rid of something like this. If you can't figure out the step by step use of CL, go to a pet store and maybe they can guide you to someplace who buys used (I know you said it is new but it is 2nd hand since it is not being purchased brand new in a pet store) pet equipment.

For safety purposes, I would not allow people in my house to come check out the tank. Put it in your garage so you don't open yourself up to potential danger of a stranger in your house with you.

When I was looking for a pet for my daughter I saw similar items for sale in the "pets" category on craigslist. You could also try ebay, they have an area of the website that is for local, "pick-up only" type sales so you wouldn't have to worry about shipping it. You could also see if your city has a PennySaver type paper for local ads. Maybe some pet stores in your area have bulletin boards for posting ads. Or consider donating it to a nearby conservation group. We live south of the city and I was recently at Lake Catherine looking at the animals they have in their buildings and saw a sign saying they appreciated monetary and item donations for their animal habitats. The Forest Preserve also has learning centers scattered around the suburbs, they may be in need of similar items.

Craigslist or ebay...and as someone said, don't invite people into your home to look at it...have it outside somewhere or the garage. Craigslist is very easy to use...and free, of course

Craigslist is where I'd go first. If you've never posted on Craigslist, it's pretty self explanatory once you sign up (don't worry, it's free to post!). Just sign up for an account, then it'll ask you to choose what area you'd like to post in, choose your catagory, etc. You can post in more than one area but I'd change up the words a bit for each ad as they may flag it for repeat ads...sometimes they'll do that. If you can, take photos of the items & post them on the ad along w/a good description of the items. People usually want to see photos of what you have rather than guessing what it may look like. You can also try posting an ad in a newspaper, try swap meets or flea markets if you have them in your area. You may can post an ad in stores w/public bulletin boards like what Tractor Supply has. Also Ebay is a consideration. You can list it either as an auction or a 'buy it now' ad on Ebay..if it's too large to ship to a winning bidder, you can still list it on Ebay for "local pickup only". Hope this helps, good luck!
