Reoccuring Stomach Pain at 15 Weeks Pregnant?

For the last three days I've had some reoccuring stomach pains. They last for about 30 seconds each and happen once almost every hour. They almost feel like an intense gas pain and they cover my whole abdomen (from under my breasts down to the top of my pubic area, and all the way to my sides). I haven't been constipated. They started about three days ago.

I called the advice nurse, and she wanted me to come in. I got two urine tests because she thought maybe bladder infection - urine was fine. My blood pressure was fine, and she checked the baby's heartbeat which was at 148. So everything seems fine but these sharp pains that happen every hour! She didn't have an answer for me, so she sent me home and just told me to keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse, to make an appointment with my doctor.

I was thinking maybe I've developed a milk/dairy intolerance? I myself was lactose intolerant as a baby, but it went away when I got older. Either that or maybe it's a nutritional deficiency? I've had pretty bad morning sickness and food aversions, and since the beginning of my pregnancy I have lost 10 lbs. Um, also I just switched from my normal prenatals (which made me sick) to Flinstones Chewables from recommendation from my OB.

Does anyone have any advice? I'm going to eliminate dairy from my diet for a couple of weeks to see if I notice a change. But have any of you experienced something like this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I've been in to the doctor's three times, have seen two different doctors, three different nurses, and they can't find anything wrong. So my doctor thinks it's probably just my uterus and muscles stretching and spasming throughout the day causing me pain. Either that or dehydration. I still feel the baby move, we listened to the heartbeat which is fine, I got a couple different pee tests done, and some tests to see if it was an infection of some sort. Everything came back normal and I'm not in preterm labor. I'm so relieved to know that everything is okay. If it gets worse or occurs more often, they want me to go in again and do some other tests and get an ultrasound. But I'm crossing my fingers that that won't happen. Thank you everyone for your concern and your help :)

Instead of calling the advice Nurse, call your OB/GYN.
And tell him/her what is going on.

Do not guess.
Only your OB/GYN can give you a definitive conclusion.

I really doubt, it is a milk/dairy intolerance.
Because, the 'pains' are happening every hour and have a pattern to it.
That is not a milk/dairy intolerance.

Again, DO NOT guess at this. Nor keep guessing.
You need to see your OB/GYN.
Its been 3 days already.

DO NOT self-diagnose.
And being you are pregnant.

Recurrent pains like that, especially if they're forming a pattern and are going for three days, mean you need to call your OB and ask seriously if she thinks you need to get yourself to the emergency room for a labor check where they can do a non-stress test and monitor contractions. Get yourself drinking water, because you could be dehydrated.

What you're describing is not a bout with lactose intolerance. My middle daughter has lactose intolerance, very severely, and I know what LI looks like. That's not it. What you're describing sounds it could be dehydration contractions which tighten up your entire uterus. They're not progressive contractions but they're extremely painful and they can eventually lead to early labor if you're not careful about staying hydrated.

Get a second opinion. Go to an urgent care immediately and see a doctor. You know that there is something wrong with your body. It wont hurt to have a full work up and have peace of mind, would it?

If you're nursing another child, that can cause contractions.

I would go to the ER or get in immediatley to have yourself monitered. Make sure you arent having contractions now, while they can do something to stop them if they are progessing. I dont say this to frighten you, just to make sure you get help now if it is serious, its better to be seen, than not seen. Please go get seen by someone in person.
God bless you and your baby! :)

Do the Flinstones have food dyes in them? If so, you might want to switch to something that doesn't - food dyes aren't so great for the baby.

Good luck,

I am the same, 15 weeks tomorrow actually. The stomach pain can be a sign of dehydration too. I have them quite frequently when I haven't had enough water.
