Renting Moonwalk for 4Yo B-day Party- Need Other Activities??

Hi, Ladies! Thanks to all who responded to my original question a couple of months ago for ideas for my son's birthday party. We've decided to rent a moonwalk and have the party at our house to save some money. Our son is so excited and I know all his friends will love this, but do we need to have other activities planned?

The young invitees will range from 2-10 years old, plus the big kids (ie the "grown-ups" LOL).

Thanks for your help! This is our first party with friends too, and I didn't have such things as a kid. This is all new to me, and I'm having a blast, though I feel rather lost most of the time! =o)

What can I do next?

Ok, so were talking 3 hours for the party.. right? My creativity works best when I have theme to coordinate with so, not sure if you have a theme but here goes... My friend threw a pirate party for her 5 yo at her house last year. It worked out extremely well... (Actually her's was a pink pirate party, for girls, but I don't think that matter much)

The kids can arrive in their favorite swashbucking attire... or just handout pirate bandanas and eye patches. One of the activities can be a treasure hunt, where you hide clues over the house and the kids were divided into 2 groups to go clue to clue until they find the treasure. It took at least 20-30 minutes for each group to go through the hunt and finally find the treasure (candy, bead necklaces, etc.). One group can jump on the moonwalk while the other hunts. She also devised a game of 'walk the plank' (with adult spotters and helping hands, of course)... That used up another 20 minutes. You can make a 'pin the X on the map' game where whomever sticks their X closest to a picture of a treasure chest wins. That's another 20 minutes. (My friend's party was in December also, so she needed activities that were more indoor.) With more moonwalk jumping and birthday cake, the 3 hours will fly by.

I'd pick up some playdough and playdough toys to amuse the younger kids.

Good luck on your party, Warning on the moonwalk. This happened at a family party somehow it unpluged (pump) and there was a child in the moonwalk that did not get out as it went down. Luckily someone saw the top of his head and started it back up and pulled him out. He is 7 yrs old and weighs about 50lbs. With the weight he wasn't able to move, being stuck in folds and was having trouble breathing. Thankfully we got him just in time.

You may not need to have anthing else "organized" necessarily but you may want to have something to do for the kids who are not jumping- colors, toys, ect. Keep in mind that you will not want the 6-10 year olds jumping at the same time as the 2-5 year olds as it can get pretty dangerous when the big kids are jumping around with the little kids- the little ones end up getting trampled. You may want to think ahead of time how you are going to split the time and get some of the parents you are close with to help you as it is not always a fun task to tell the bigger kids it's time to get off and let the little kids jump or vise versa.

We just had a party at home w/ a bouncy I planned a bunch of games but ended up cutting out some coz the kids loved that.
The games we had were: hot potato, guessing game written on paper, Who knows the bday child best? And they had to answer ?s like what is her favorite color, what time was she born etc. It was fun. I also had a guessing contest to see how many m&m's were in a jar. And we had a pinata. Kids ages 3-11 They had fun!! Good luck!!!

We had a moonwalk when our daughter was 5. I swear they never left it except for the cake and the pinata at the end.... It was awesome. My gift to the parents? Their children all slept great that night!
