Rent to Own Places

Since I do believe I need a new washer to keep mysterious stains from appearing on my new clothes...Has anyone used a rent to own center, like Rentacenter or Aaron's and liked it and turned out to be a good thing. Or is it a waste of time? And you end up paying more? I need a new washer and dryer and was contemplating used but was not ruling out new from one of these places. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I rent from Florida Laundry Center. They are the cheapest around, you dont have to sign a contract & if it breaks they replace it for you at no charge. The # is ###-###-####

When I was younger the thing to do was to rent from a rent to own place. Everyone is right that has responded, you are paying way over the value of the product your are purchasing. Not to mention that if you are late on any payment they will hound you with constant phone calls and or show up at your door at all hours for your payment or your appliances. (had it happen to my sister years ago)

My husband and I bought all our appliances from Sears outlet. They have brand new items that are dented ect. and you pay way below reg. pricing, for brand new items.

Not familiar with rent to own, but I bought my washer/dryer used from AAA Appliance and have never had a problem with either one. I've also referred a couple of friends as well and they've had good experiences too. They are located in Tampa ###-###-####. Good Luck!

Do you have a well? Well water can sometimes run muddy before clearing up if not filtered properly. I had mysterious stains in my wash as well and that cleared it up.

A lot of the stores have scratch and dent items i.e a cosmetic problem caused in the store so the appliance has to be sold off...can't be sold as brand new. They are usually great deals!

Hi A.,

I've not used a rent to own place but I just sold a washer and dryer on Craigslist. If you search there, you can find some great deals and most of the people selling the items tend to be honest. I sold both for $200 because we moved into a place that couldn't accommodate the size and the dryer was just over a year old. I would check them out, the only downside is you may have to go get them yourself as opposed to having them delivered.

I have not used rent to own. I think they are a rip off - pay way more in the end. Famous Tate is pretty reasonable to buy new and it is likely to find a sale there or scratch n dent. Best of luck!

We did Aaron's rental for furniture only for a temporary term and it was ok. They were efficient and the furniture was ok. However, I can't imagine what other people must do to their furniture.....especially if it really isn't their own and must be returned. Craigslist sounds like a good idea or even the flyer or newspaper. However, I've had some ill experiences with buying used machines, they tend to have problems and no warranty. Good luck!!!

Sometimes vinegar helps to take out stains if not set in and Shout works well, too.

I don't know about those places, but we bought a new washer/dryer from Craig's list for $200 - they were 1 year old Kenmore and work fantastic! The person just needed to move and get rid of them. Check out there and The Flyer first and you may be able to get a great deal!

I wouldn't do a rent to own place, you end up paying so much more than the product is really worth in the long run, sometimes 100% more. Try craigslist.com and search for washers there. Many times people are moving or upgrading and have washers to sell for cheap! You can get the info on the product and do internet research on it as well as consumer report to see what people think of it. It's by far the best way to go if you are looking to get a large appliance for a good price.

Go with a used one out of the flyer or paper. The rent to own centers are all rip offs. You end up paying double and sometimes more for the product. You might better go to a store and purchase new ones. I know to many people that have done the rent to own deals. Bad choice..........
