I am looking to rent a car. I totaled mine in a wreck two weeks ago and I cant afford a big down payment right now and I dont have good credit to get one with zero down. I am having a very hard time getting my kids to and from school.
Does anyone know of a place I can rent one for a few months at a low price?

What can I do next?

I would contact your insurance company and see what type of deals they have with rental places.

Also, I don't know if all rental places are like this, but Alamo Rental requires the driver of the rental to have a debit/credit card that is in their name on file before they will hand you the keys. Found this out at the rental desk as I was trying to pick up the car!

What you're looking for is a short term lease (like 6mo-1year) if you want it 24/7, otw it would cost you the same as buying a whole new car. Leasing a car can be as little as $120 a month or as much as $400 a month (one of my brothers is leasing his beemer for $412 a month).

If you only need a car *occasionally* check out zipcar.

My car insurance picks up the cost of a rental, with terms of course, you should call your agent. Also can you ask a neighbor? Friend? I hope everyone is ok from the accident! Also you'd be AMAZED at how easy it is to buy/lease a car these days with less than perfect credit. Maybe call a dealer close by and explain your situation, and can someone co-sign for you? Did you call your insurance company to see what your benefits are from the wreck? That could be your down payment. Is there another car/another driver's insurance involved? Can you take a cab, bus? Good Luck.

u can call the school and see if there are any moms carpooling on your block. You could probably pay someone $20 a week to drive them a lot easier than renting a car.
