This information is for pen ink but it might work with Sharpies. Worth a try:
Hair spray
or
Goo B Gone
or
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
Hi Mamas,
I know I've seen this type of question here before, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention because it hadn't been a problem for me. Unfortunately, we moved recently and my hubby forgot to put the Sharpies away after an evening of packing and labeling boxes. OF COURSE, our 6-year-old got a hold of them the next morning, and while luckily she's old enough to know better than to color right on the furniture, she did color on some paper and the marker bled through and stained our coffee table. I know they're called permanent markers for a reason, but is there any way to get the stains out?
Thanks!
Sara

with alcohol or acetone
Try Goof Off. Works great for it!
Try mineral spirits - just a bit on a cloth and it will come off. I've done this w/ tar on my hardwood, and it didnt harm the finish. Might ask to verify at the hardware store.
My friends daughter drew, with a Sharpie, all over a grand piano THE DAY THE PEOPLE HE SOLD IT TO WERE COMING TO PICK IT UP! Talk about freak out mode! I don't know where he learned this, but he sprayed it with some cheap hair spray (he mentioned Aqua Net), and it came right off with a rag, and didn't damage the piano. Good luck!
I would try rubbing alcohol. I think I've gotten red sharpie out of wood furniture with that before (2 year old went CRAZY all over our house with one once...... LOL)
Or possibly a Magic Eraser, but check the label first, not sure if you can use it on wood!!
Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They get permanant markers out well - be careful, you may dull a shiny surface, but if you only scrub the affected area, it might be better than the marker.
Good luck
Try hand sanitizer! It works to get permanent marker off walls and nail polish out of carpet!
Rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball, dab at it so that you don't take off the finish, just in case it is shallack or something less than a good varnish. The alcohol will take it off of nearly everything, but it will also remove paint and finishes if you are not careful!
Men just don't think about sharpies, do they? That is my first thought once I am done with one...put it back where no one can get it!
