Hairspray. Spray on until the marks dissolve then spot treat with detergent or stain pen before throwing in the wash. Works every time.
Is there a way to remove ink stains from clothes after they have been washed and dried? I acidentally washed my husband's army uniform with 2 pens in the pocket. The stains are small, but he would still need to buy a new set to replace this one. I am trying to save us from having to spend extra money. I have heard about alcohol, but am not convinced. Any experience with removing dried ink stains?

my ex husband did the same thing only with 3 of his white uniform shirts. We (mostly I) put rubbing alcohol on the ink spots and scrubbed at it with a toothbrush, let rinsed the area with cold water then put more rubbing alcohol on it and lightly rubbed it in and let it sit for about 30 min, rinsed again in cold water and then put rubbing alcohol on it one more time, rub in with a toothbrush and added dish soap and washed it in the washer. There was a tiny, tiny, tiny spot that was left but it was at the bottom of the shirt and you couldn't see it once it was tucked in. If this worked for me on white dress shirts, you should definitely be able to get the ink out of a camouflaged Army uniform.
Vinegar.
Heres a list of stain treatments for all kinds of things using vinegar (which doesn't discolor the cloth)

If rubbing alcohol doesn't work, try Grandma's Secret Spot Remover. It took red crayon color out of my daughter's clothes after being washed & dried repeatedly beforehand! lol
Also, my husband is in the Army. He says you are not supposed to put the ACU's in the dryer. I think he said they last long if you don't put them in there. :)
Typically after you wash something you can still get stains out UNTIL YOU RUN THEM THROUGH THE DRYER. You have to do it before you run it through the dryer because the dryer sets the stain permanently. When it's still in the washing stage you still have a chance.
Sorry, but you're going to have to replace the uniform.
Rubbing alcohol. It worked for ballpoint pen scribbled all over a white T shirt at my house. I dabbed it on straight with a cotton ball and q tip. Then "lifted" the ink with a rag. Had to repeat more than once. Ink eventually came completely out.
