How many of you have this?
Do you love it?

Where did you get it installed and what did you get?

Best Buy quoted me $325 for basic and $425 for the Viper....

What can I do next?

Hubby has one on his truck. LOVES it! He found a guy at work to install if for a few hundred bucks. The Best Buy quote is totally worth it.

We have it on our Ford F150. It was not after market so I have no idea what it would cost you....but we love it!

I have had one on both vehicles for years (a 2002 and 2006 both got after market ones). I love love love them! We do not park in garage (thats for the TOYS!), so its great to start them up (unless its just TOO cold), and I always leave the heater on full blast on the defrost position...so a few minutes and gets things melting and warming.

We have a small itty bitty car, and a pick up truck...so both warm up the space really fast!

Living in MN, I simply would NOT have a newer car without one.

I used to have one and loved it. I only used it during the winter here in Texas though. Nice to start the car (which was parked outside) 5 minutes before I was ready to go. Engine would be warm enough for me to turn on the heater right when I got in the car.

So other than winter, when your car is parked outside and the engine is ice cold - I don't see a reason to get one. But maybe I'm missing something. (In Texas it may be nice to let the AC run a few minutes before you get to your car, but from what I understand, blowing the AC on full blast for 5 minutes is NOT the way to cool down your car when it's 150degrees inside of it. I have always rolled down the windows the first minute or two of driving, THEN put on the AC)

Mine came factory on my car and OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I can't say enough good things about it. When I am at work I am always the first one to leave on a snowy, cold, icy day because I just start my car before I leave out my office window. It is also toasty warm in the morning before I go to work. This also allows for the kids to never be cold/hot in the car during the hot/cold months. Mine stays started for 15 min and then shuts off until I either get it or start it again. I have a Chevy.

I don't have them on any of my cars now, but only because I haven't had a chance to get them in the shop. They are AMAZING!!

Honestly, after market ones can be a BAD idea. If they are installed improperly they can horribly mess up your car. I know this with experience my father has given me. He is a mechanic for a dealership and has had to fix what aftermarket places have done, and the damage. I did have a car with it once (ok it was the ex's) and it WAS nice, but I will never install an after market one.

My husband got me the Viper from Best Buy for my birthday. Mainly because we have three kids and I am often by myself trying to load the car with them, but we maintain such a hectic schedule it is not possible to just stay home because the weather is unpleasant. Having the remote start to help modify the temperature of the car is awesome, even if it takes a little forethought. If you come home in the hot afternoon, for instance, but the overnight low is forecast to be frigid, you may want to turn it from air conditioning to heat lest you make the car even colder in the morning. Brrrrrr. Happened to me once. ONCE!

It is an indulgence I would probably never have gotten for myself, but my husband likes to spoil me and he is a gadget nerd, so this seemed the perfect gift for him to give me. In many ways, yes, it does make my life easier.

Love it, it is the safest way to warm the car up in winter and cool it down in summer since the car will shut down if the key is not put in the ignition and turned on.

Dealership installed and warrantied it.
