Anyone ever had a preschooler who developed reflux? My DD is 4. almost 5, but is presenting what I feel like may be reflux symptoms. Anyone ever have a little one who didn't develop reflux until this age? What were their symptoms?

What can I do next?

My son is 5 & has always been the "puker" of the family & I now know why. For example, a few weeks ago for several nights in a row, he would say he was going to throw up, he would run to the bathroom & lean over the toilet to throw up but wouldn't. The dr prescribed Prevacid & anytime he feels like he's going to throw up, I give that to him & he is fine. Prevacid is pretty expensive though, I did "mail order" & it was much cheaper.
He also feels car sick sometimes, but I think he gets that from me!

Yes, my daughter had it when she was that age but it was not diagnosed til she was 11 and a good dentist thought she was bullemic because so much enamel was missing from her back teeth. While doing an upper g.i. to look at everything another good doc noticed problems near the site and asked if he could do an ultrasound. He discovered gallstones and my baby had her gallbladder and appendix out at that age. They did an check on her pa levels in esophogus (I'm a terrible speller) and exit of stomach and started her on Prevacid for reflux disease. Prilosec and others did not work for her. She is 25 and still takes Prevacid. She had shingles at 12 too! She would have been the perfect child for one of those mothers who have Munchausen By Proxy. She was born with extremely low platelet count and had 2 of those transfusions, and 1 complete and just before AIDS was formally known. I will always be greatful to the people who donated good blood and platelets!

My daughter started to have such bad breath at 6 that I talked with her ped and he sent her to a gastroenterologist, he placed her on prevacid and then nexium.
She has always had a sensitive stomach. She gets this from her dad. She would get sick at the slightest stress. I almost thought she had an ulcer.
My son was diagnosed with GERD at 3 months and now has little or no symptoms. He is 3 years old.

Absolutely! My Neice is 9 now, she developed reflux YEARS ago. She can eat tomoatoes by the bushel, just loves them... they don't like her though. Her symptoms where the same as anyones. She was ill at her stomach, and vomited often. To this day, tomatoes are her weakness, and they still don't like her, however, the result is not as severe as it used to be... I suppose you could say she's "growing" out of it??

My oldest son who is almost 4 was diagnosed with reflux. He was throwing up a lot and his stools were VERY loose. We see Dr. Ogunmola and we adore him. He informed us that reflux in infants and reflux in toddlers are completly unrelated. I couldn't understand why my child who never even spit up as a baby had terrible reflux. His was caused by an undetected milk/egg allergy that was causing continual vomiting and diahhrea. He is on Prevacid now which seems to help. Good luck...I know this is not fun!
