We live in Forney and have since Feb 2005. So far, we love the town... Not a ton of stuff going on in town right now, but I'm happy with the way it is growing. I love our neighborhood because we have 3 playgrounds (one with baby swings), covered tot lot (when the pool is open), a pool, an inline hockey rink and an elementary school...plus more in the works.
We actually just found a new pediatrician. We had continued going to our ped. in Dallas for a year. Our new pediatrician is Dr. Jyothi Reddy. We love her because she really respects the parents' right to make medical decisions. If you are alternative minded at all, then you'll like her.
We haven't found a vet in the area (alas...our dogs are happy not to be poked and prodded, but they do need their heartworm medication) yet. I think there are a couple...plus there's one in Heath, which is just up FM740 before you get to Rockwall.
Depending upon which part of Forney you live in, the Starbucks in Rockwall is closer than Terrell. From my neighborhood, the Rockwall Starbucks is between 10-15 minutes away and the Terrell one is between 20-25 minutes away.
We do 95% of our grocery shopping at Kroger in Rockwall because we like their organic selection. There is also a Wal-Mart Supercenter and a Brookshire's here in town. We don't have a Y, but there is one in Rockwall. You take 740 north to Ridge Road and follow that to 205 (Goliad) and head north. The nearest mall is Town East Mall in Mesquite. Rockwall also has a lot of stuff...Linens N Things, Bed Bath and Beyond, Micheal's, Hobby Lobby, etc.
Umm...suggestions...well...I have a sweet tooth and have tried all the donut shops in Forney (that I know of, at least). Forney Donuts on 740 near Criswell is the best. =P Also, The Daily Grind Cafe is a lovely place for a light lunch...but it is pricey. Country Smokehouse is a cute little homestyle restaurant, but I didn't find their chicken fried steak to be anything to write home about...and I think their mashed potatoes may have been instant. The pecan pie was worth the trip, though. We have at least three Mexican restaurants...of those, at least two have dead animal heads on the wall, so I don't go there...personal thing...I don't like seeing dead animals look at me while I eat other dead animals. ;)
Gosh...I've babbled. If there's anything specific I can answer for you or elaborate on, feel free to contact me through the Mamasource system. =)
