I have a 3 kiddos under 5. We are relocating to the Cape in the next few months. I need the inside on the best areas to live and schools/preschools. We want an area that is family friendly. My daughter will start kindergarden in the fall. What do I need to know about the Cape? Thank you!

So What Happened?

Thanks for the help. What is the best elementary school? Is the charter school as good as I have heard? We've looked in the area and seem to like the SW? Suggestions?

This is a great place to live. Nearly everything is here and I hardly ever have to travel to neighboring cities like N Ft MYers, or Ft Myers. You pick any school in the city. But likely the kid will have a long busride if you are too far away. There are parks all over, beaches are within 30 minutes. There are five main roads that split the city where you will find most of the restuarants and shopping (Del Prado, Santa Barbara run north and south, Cape Coral Pkway, Veterans and Pine Island road run east and west. Most of the city has public sewer and water. Do you have a place to live? Mike Lombardo at Century 21 is an excellent agent. HOpe this helps, welcom to SW florida livng!

welcome to the area. I am a native. Born and raised right here. I have seen this city grow. I live in NE Cape. My house is 2 miles away from my sons school and it is very quiet out by me. My son goes to Diplomat Elementary and i highly recommend it. It really is a great school. My daughter is 2 and goes to Wellington Acc for daycare. I also highly recommend that center. I have tried a couple other daycares in the area, but would only recommend Wellington. (from my experience). I agree with the other post you have received. there are ALOT of parks. and many things to do with the kids. When it comes to school though... busing is a BIG issue. I personally would NOT put my son on a bus. I have my reasons and i will leave it at that. welcome to the area..

I agree with Sharon on everything. CC is a WONDERFUL place to live - we couldn't be happier!! We have 3 children 9,8, and 7 and have lived here for their entire lives. There are MANY parks, EVERYTHING is local/close by - lots of shopping lots of schools to choose from. There are some busing issues but fortunately we live a bit closer to the school and our kids are the first stop so they only have a 10 min bus ride!!

Good luck to you and your family!!
