I pretty much just stock it up with a variety of pickles and olives. Sometimes I throw in some nuts or cheese cubes, but you can go for variety! Sweet pickles, dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, blue cheese stuffed olives, Greek olives, black olives, etc. Hot peppers and artichoke hearts were also good suggestions, but if you're having other trays, I'd do pickles, nuts, olives and cheese if you don't have someone doing that yet.

pickles (dill, sweet and bread and butter), olives (black and green), crackers, cheese (cut up in cubes).

I have a separate veggie platter...celery, cucumber, bell pepper, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower - with the sour cream onion dip and ranch dressing.

To Rachel...WTH is a cheese marble? smaller than a cheese ball??

There are far too many hosting sort of rules that, at 42, I am still very unaware of! LOL

To me, a relish tray, as all of you seem to be calling it, is a pickle tray! LOL! Relish is that chopped up pickle junk you put on a hot dog (both of which I do NOT eat).

We just do black and green olives and usually someones home made pickles (a few as they are always on hand... I don;t make them but get them from several people and I buy fun flavors at the farmers market all summer), along with storebought pickles. Nothing fancy here!

Usually the store bought ones are assigned to my BIL. Its an easy task for him to do at the last minute. More to his skill set. :-)

A more traditional relish tray will have pickles, olives, celery and carrot sticks, a dip for the veggies, cheese slices or some sort of spreadable cheese with crackers

Me personally: pickles, olives (all sorts), red pepper slices, celery and carrot sticks with hummus, pita wedges and slices of cheese.

sliced and whole banana peppers (pickled) and jalepenos (pickled again) or jalepeno jelly. I also like to add one of the facy little relish spreads from Harry & David depending what is on the table at the time. If accompanying a cheese (read soft cheese) tray the H&D is a nice touch.

Am I the only one who puts relish on a relish tray? The contents of a relish tray are supposed to compliment the other dishes. Without knowing what the other dishes are this question cannot be answered.....by me.
