Hi, Ladies! Does anyone use Reliant? Do you like them? Do you think they're better than TXU? My husband is wanting to switch and I just wanted to see if anyone recommends one company over the other. We got a $250 credit incentive to swith to Reliant plus several cents per kilowatt hour cheaper rate for a year (must stay with Reliant for the full year to avoid a fee), and a couple less surcharges per month than TXU ("base charge" and/or "advanced meter charge" can't remember which or if it's both). Thanks for your input!!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much; We ended up going with Champion for now. They had 7.5 cents/kwh which even with the $250 incentive Reliant was offering still made it the cheaper option. I also found a couple web sites that did comparisons of all the local companies with customer reviews, and Champion had the highest rankings. I called for more info and got a real person within a few seconds and she was helpful and friendly. She also said they were ranked highest in Customer Satisfaction with JD Powers. Hopefully we'll be happy with the switch -- I'm just kicking myself for not having done it sooner! And I'd love to know how your electric bill was only $58 Nikki!! Our TXU bill for August was $322!

We have been with Reliant for 6 years now. I love them. I really like being able to talk to a PERSON 24 / 7. You have the automated system but it's really easy to get to an acutal person. Customer service has been great. Their rates are pretty good. I haven't had any issues with them. I don't know that I would ever go back to TXU. For any outages we just call Oncor directly (or whatever line company your area is serviced by).

There was always something with TXU that was wrong or annoying me. We switched to Reliant well over 5 years ago and I've not had a complaint with them. I've been very pleased with Reliant.

We have used Reliant also for several yrs. I like the online payment service, I can pay as often as I like & that is important during the high summer bills. My rate I believe is 11cents per K for a yr. The only complaint I had was when I had just renewed my rate Reliant started to advertise for one free month for signing up and they wouldn't honor that special. I tried to complain and they gave me some lame excuse it was not in my area but it was advertising all over TV.

I just switched from TXU to Champion Energy, and so far I have had no problems with Champion. I didnt have to pay a deposit which TXU wanted a $300 deposit, and my rate is 7.5 cents a kw. Thats alot cheaper than Reliants 11 cents! I don't know how it will calculate out w/the $250 promotion you'll get but I got my first bill from Champion and it was $58 including taxes!!! I was shocked my TXU bill would have cost me at least...$87 plus taxes and surcharges...so basically almost double!! I can't believe I didn't switch sooner! Go online and google electric companies in your city and there is a website that can compare alot of electric companies! But I think Reliant and TXU have way to high of rates! Why else would they give all those promotions!
