I too am in the same boat. Working at Sheetz/Wal-mart overnight isn't cutting it anymore - I'm 5 weeks pregnant and all I do is sleep or puke! I sold PartyLite for 4 years and when I moved to this area, lost my network and haven't be able to rebuild it. Quite frankly, I'm tired of lugging that stuff all over and setting up great displays for people who may or may not come. Home show type work is no guarantee - regardless of how much they promise it to you. Any home show work you consider should be free start up - you shouldn't have to invest if you don't even know whether you will stick with it. That is one perk to PartyLite - free to get started. If you find anything - let me know. I have looked and lost a lot of money on the work from home "scams" on the internet and have yet to find one that is legitimate and that doesn't cost $500 to get started. I've found a yahoo group that offers links and suggestions as to various legitimate work at home jobs that is actually very helpful. You have to fill out a brief questionaire beforehand, but that's mainly just to weed out the spammers and to make sure the group stays legit. Anyway, feel free to take a look - the website is http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/RealJobs_FromHome/ I haven't found anything yet for myself, but there's a database that lists a ton of telecommuting companies, transcriptionist companies, etc. Hope this helps!

I am a mom of 2 boys (4 1/2 and 4 months) who works from home. I searched for a 'work from home' "JOB" for many years, and have heard all of the scams. I tried a MLM company, but that just put me in debt once I decided after 2 years of trying to stop. After this, I was determined not to work with a MLM company, and I did not want to put any $$ out of my pocket to start up a demo business(partylite, etc.) Anyway, I took a medical transcription course online with www.careerstep.com. It was a great course, but once I completed it, I did not have any luck finding work. Many people do find work, though. I ended up hearing about a company from a friend that hires homeworkers. It is in Horsham, PA, and it is called Reed Technology. They handle/edit/put together patents. I am not sure if you are anywhere near this area, but if so, you may want to look into it. They do require 2-3 weeks of 'in-house' training in Horsham, which is pretty intense. Then, you are set up with a computer, printer, supplies, etc. from them to enable you to work from home. I edit/code patents, and LOVE it. You have to go in to their facility in Horsham 1xweek to drop-off/pick-up your work. You are usually only there for maybe a 1/2 hour or so. The best part is, you can bring your kids with you. They are very family oriented, which is great! The $$ is ok, but as you get better/faster you have the oppurtunity to make more. I earn a part-time income from home and I love my company and the product we offer. It's important for you to find a company that you believe in. A lot of companies require a start-up fee and your initial investment shouldn't be so much that you won't recoup your $$ until you have been in for 2 years!! I am not going to try and sell you on my company, but I can tell you that we are publicly traded on the NYSE. That's very important because if the company is privately held you won't know if they are operating in the black or the red. Make sure you are with a company that will be around for the long haul.
