Do you know that you never want another pregnancy? If so, go with the tubal ligation and add an over the counter method of birth control. If you know that you and your husband will stay together forever...ask him to have a vasectomy. Nothing but abstinence is 100%. Also, get some psychotherapy because your fear seems to (at least) border on irrational, to the point where you won't have intercourse with your husband over long stretches. How wonderful that he understands. That will get old, though.

Nothing is 100% effective but you can increase your percentages by using 2 forms of birth control (such as the pill and a condom or IUD and condom) instead of just 1.

Since no BC is 100% I'm not sure if you'll truly find what you hope to.

Best wishes.

My 8 year old is a "pill baby", born 11 months after our wedding. So, I wanted something that would not fail- since I didnt not want to have a child every year and I did want to have sex with my husband again. After her I had the nuva-ring for 6 years (you place a new one inside once a month) and then stopped using it so I could get pregnant. About 11 months later I had my 2nd daughter. After I had her I had the IUD Mirena put in and I have had it for 2 years. It will protect me for 5 years (and then I will have another one put in..we are done!) Nuvaring and Mirena are both great alternatives to sugery and with both you can decide to still have more children without difficulty. Hope this helps!

Well if you want to have sex, there is always a chance however small of pregnancy. I agree with another poster that if you don't want anymore kids you guys could both get "fixed". That would be virtually fool proof. Other than that, oral birth control pills are very effective. If you mix oral bcp along with condoms and diaphrams you should be good. They also have a device called a nuva ring that you insert vaginally once a month if you are concerned about forgetting to take a pill. I think if you talk to your doctor you can come up with a plan that will give you the maximum amount of birth control that is possible. It might be a hassle to deal with so many forms of birth control at once but it is worth it, it sounds like you guys need to hit the sheets sister!! ;) Best wishes to you:)
