After a not so great extended family vacation (try getting 16 people to agree on what to do for a whole week - just try!! :), my husband and I decided we want to take a mini vacation , just us and our 9 month old daughter. Does anyone have any reccomendations for beaches in Delaware? Can you tell me a little about your experiences, good or bad. We'll be going mid September so I am hoping that is is not too crowded. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Hi Meg,

We are currently stationed in DE and we love it here. School is back in so it shouldn't be as crowded as it was over the summer. We have only been to Rehoboth so far but we really loved it. The boardwalk is nice with lots of little restaurants and shops. The beach is lovely and if you get there by 10 AM you should be able to get a nice spot on the beach. Parking is $4 for every three hours and can only be paid with coins or a debit card, so for convenience have change ready.

This is totally non-beach related but also in Rehoboth they have a pretty kickin' outlet mall with a carter's and osh-kosh and so many other stores it's like Christmas for shoppers.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

Hope this helps,

L.

I live in Delaware so I have some knowledge. Either would be fine especially when you are planning to go. Have to go to Grottos!

We had a blast at Rehobeth Beach. We drove from Columbus, Ohio (stopped in PA first then on to Inner Harbor, MD and then to Rehobeth Beach. The boardwalk is super nice and not too "touristy". We took our 3 and 4 year old there and they cried b/c they didn't want to leave. Hope you get the chance to visit there b/c we LOVED it! We are already planning on going back again next year.

Enjoy!!

Check out Sea Colony Resort in Bethany Beach, DE. Awesome family oriented resort. We've spent many summers in Rehoboth, Dewey but much prefer Bethany! Lewes is much more laid back--port town. Sea Colony has kid programs, pools, tennis--everything you could want.
Check out Sea Colony at:

As a bonus--Bethany is only a short drive to OC, Maryland, and still very close to Rehoboth, outlets and Lewes (if you want to take the ferry over to Cape May, NJ O. day...)
