Reggio Emilia Pre School in Chicago

Hi moms

I'm starting to do some research on pre school education.

Do you know of any pre schools in the Chicago area (we live on the north side of the city, so in the city, or near north suburbs would be best) that use the Reggio Emilia approach/philosophy? I am already aware of the Chicago Grammar School and WPNS - just finding it difficult to figure out any others.

Thanks much!

N.

Sprouts Academy on Chicago Ave. downtown also uses this philosophy. I am a teacher and studied Early Childhood. I think this philosophy is amazing. I wish more schools used the Reggio Emilia approach. I run a daycare out of my home and I do use that philosophy. More daycares and preschools should follow this approach. If you find one close to the North side of the city, please let me know.

Several of the Chicago Public School State Pre-kindegarten centers use the philosophy (one is Belmont-Cragin, but there are others as well). Chicago Commons, which has several locations, also uses the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

Mt. Carmel Academy in Lakeview does as well. This is my son's fourth year at MCA and we've been really happy with their programs! Let me know if you want any more information.

I believe the Concordia Place preschool uses that philosophy. They have two locations, one at Byron & Seeley and the other on North Whipple. It's been a few years since our son attended, so things may have changed.
