My 1 year old has now begun to refuse to eat fruit. He is very into feeding himself but find cut up peaches, apples, pears too slimey and just squished them and refuses to eat them. He refuses baby food and refuses to have me feed him the cut up fruit. What can i do?

What can I do next?

Just keep trying, he'll figure out how to pick them up eventually. Also, try slicing up bananas, pineapple tidbits, and mandarin oranges. Those are all easy to pick up and easy for babies to eat.

Good luck!

try the Dole fruit cups, just dump out the juice and let him feed himself.

Don't sweat it. He will learn. When my kids were young I didn't really care if they had the fruit or not as long as the veggies were eaten. I find that the fruit adds extra sugar. Now, if they want (5 and 6 years old) a bananna or an apple or an orange, they get one in the fridge. It is optional and not a requirement

What about making him a smoothie? If he's eating plain yogurt, cut up the fruit and blend it with some yogurt and ice. He could eat this from a spoon or from a straw (although, not sure if at age 1 he's sipping through a straw yet). Make one for yourself while you're at it, drink it and rave at how delicious it is. Many kids are all about imitation!

Maybe he is just not a sweets kinda guy, some are like that! If he is getting enough carbs and vitamins A & C in vegetables he will do fine without the fruit!

I would agree to keep trying. Sometimes they just like to play with their food. Try bananas, sliced grapes, sliced strawberries too. Blueberries are good ones too, I sliced the bigger ones in half, but kept the small ones whole. My kids loved mandarin oranges which are super soft, so you just have to open up the can. Eventually you will find something that he likes.

Good luck!
