are they just a red dot? I have a few, mostly on my breasts. I talked to my OB about it when I had my last breast exam and she says it's nothing to worry about, even though one keeps getting bigger.

I have those too, small little red dots. I started getting them about 2 years ago, just a few around my hairline and chest area. It's just part of aging skin, though it's always good to do mole checks to make sure they aren't changing and if to check with a Dr.

I think the technical term is "acquired cherry angiomas"

Here's a good explanation and checklist:

I always think anyone should see a doctor if they're growing new things on their bodies. We can't really help you much here, because we can't see them. Even dermatologists have a hard time diagnosing sometimes, and they can actually SEE what you're talking about.

My daughter last year had something called petechiae, and it was little red mole-like spots. It was probably an allergic reaction but we still don't know to what. She had to have one biopsied for the doctor to make an accurate diagnosis.

I have a red mole on my shoulder, my mother on her cheek. I don't think they are dangerous, but like with any moles- if the edges change, color changes, or anything definitely see a doctor.

I agree with the previous posters... I have a few really tiny ones...almost like pinpricks. I asked my doctor about them WAAAayyyyy back when I first started noticing them... after the birth of my first child, I think. Just little "hemangiomas"...(sp?)..nothing to worry about. BUT, your friend should have a doctor look at them to confirm that it is nothing to worry about. Not ask online for a diagnosis, that even if we WERE qualified to give, could not without SEEing them.
Tell her to ask her Dr. to take a quick look.

Like the others said, not a big deal. I have a bunch of them. They started cropping up about five years ago, when I was 40. My doctor said they are just moles that are hyper rich with blood vessels. Nothing to worry about. I haven't had another thought of them since.

definitely see the dermatologist asap if they are tiny red bumps, they may just be normal but you can't be too sure...

If they are red and look sorta like a blood blister? My dermatologist told me it is an age thing. Something about little capillaries under the skin causing these. I have several on my body some bigger than others.

I have quite a few red "moles" compliments of inheriting my dad's skin....my dermatologist has a name for them although I couldn't tell you what it is just that he said nothing to worry about.
But, whenever something new shows up, it is always a good idea to take the time to have a dr tell you all is okay so you know for sure.

She should just go to the Doctor, instead of speculating.

If they look more like little--sometimes seem bigger than little--red dots even if raised just a bit, they are what my doc referred to as "blood bubbles". It is really just a bit of blod in it and not harmful. I have one on my back that I was afraid was prelude to cancer or something. I was told not to worry unless they really change color.

i'd go ahead and recommend she see a doctor. it could be petechiae, which can be completely harmless, but may also suggest a platelet deficiency that can be fixed. encourage her to get it checked out! it's always better to be on the safe side!
