My 6 yr old boy decided to put a red crayon in his shirt pocket. And of course the one time I didn't check his pockets the crayon melted in the dryer and now I have red crayon spots on ALL of the clothes! Any suggestions on what to use to get it out of the clothes?? I have tried Oxy Clean...but I think that the shirt is ruined, but I am hoping there is hope for the rest of the clothes.....Please help! Thanks

What can I do next?

This is what worked for me when this happened. Get some 20 Mule Team Borax from the laundry aisle. Wash the clothes in Hot water with regular detergent and Borax, once the water is in the washer, turn the washer off and let them sit in the hot water and soak for awhile, bit not long enough for the water to get cold, then turn it on again and let the agitator work as usual. Some may come clean the first wash, but you might have to repeat this a couple of times.

To get it out of the dryer we turned the dryer on for a few minutes so the crayon was melted again, and used a rag and most just wiped off, we used a magic eraser for the harder stuff, and then a wet rag towel to a final wipe and see if we missed anything. Than we put wet rags in the dryer and ran the dryer to make sure that no more crayon was in the dryer before we put the clothes in it.

Go to the crayola website for more detailed instrustions. I have washed so many crayons. Spray the spot with WD-40 and blot with paper towels. Then use dishwashing liquid on it. Wash the clothes like normal. Before drying clothes make sure that all the stains are gone because my experience is that the second trip through the dryer will set the stain. You may have to let the clothes air dry and repeat this cycle a couple of times.

Good Luck and just remember how much you love him because removing crayon is a labor of love.

Use some stain remover. Keep washing and re washing. My son did that like a month ago. I was going crazy because I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my clothes. They eventually came out. Just takes some time.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I washed the clothes about 4-5 times in hot water and almost all of it came out. I also turned the dryer on for about 15 min. to get hot, wiped with comet and repeated several times. To test before I put whites in the dryer I put a white towel in to see if it was clear. The stains in the dryer are still there I must say. I guess they will eventually disappear.
