Help me! I have just washed and dried a load of everyday clothes, colored, with a tube of red chapstick. Everything has multiple spots and running them through the wash again with extra detergent didn't help a bit. Anybody been there, done that and can help me out?

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

What can I do next?

My daughter left her chapstick in her pants and I did the laundry with it in it as well. This workls perfectly...Go get Shout Advanced action gel spray. Spray it on the spots. Let it sit for a few hours. Follow the directions on the bottle. I LOVE this stuff..Shout Advanced action gel. It even gets grease stains out!!!

I guess it is time for the Oxyclean, or a mixture of white vinegar and a little baking soda.
Good luck! I have done worse, like indelible ink, crayons, and clay. It will take some time and it may not ever come completely out of certain fabrics.

Hi S.,

Lestoil--it's a household cleaner. Worked for a friend whose daughters left crayons in the pockets of their Christmas outfits, which went through the washer and dryer both.

Saturate the spots with the Lestoil, then wash in hottest water and heaviest-duty cycle safe for the fabrics. It might take a couple times. Don't dry them in the dryer in between, that could set the stain.

You could also try Goo-Gone, same procedure.

Good luck!

Okay, I have had this problem multiple times. The thing I read about to do that does work, but takes FOREVER is to first spray and rub each spot with WD40. Then go back to each spot and rub with Dawn detergent. The WD40 dissolves the chapstick, then the dawn dissolves the wd40. A long process, but I have had success.
