Red Bumps a Virus?

About a week ago, I was gardening and got bit by fire ants. One bite was particularly itchy and blistery, but it doesn't 'look like any of the other bites. Well now it's mostly gone. But, about 4 days ago, my son had about 4-5 of these same red marks, though his aren't really itchy or blistery and are mostly going away. Today, he got two more red bumps. A few days ago, my husband and other son got a few of these red bumps. They itch for a few days, but nothing major. They are not chicken pox, ringworm, scabies... no fever, no other form of sickness, just a few red spots. I think it may be some sort of weird virus we have. I have done a lot of research and there is nothing that resembles this by way of common rash/virus. Then I read on Dr. Sear's this is common a from a large variety of viruses and will heal on it's own with no side effects and no need to pinpoint the cause.

Question is, tomorrow is the first day of school, he will be in kindergarten. Do I go ahead and send him? If I do, will they send him home? I know for certain it is not chicken pox. I'm still not sure if this is some virus thing we have since there is no other sickness/fever and the bumps go away after a few days. They could just be ant bites, we get a lot of those around here. What would you do?

So What Happened?

Oh my gosh, my son's red bumps are now looking more like ringworm circles. It doesn't look like that on the rest of us, but I want to be careful. Dangit, I think it's ringworm, we just got a kitten two weeks ago.... after begging my husband for 8 YEARS. I'm keeping him home and starting treatment immediately and sterilizing the entire house. How sad, my son missing his first few days of school!

Eh...... I'd probably send him. Just make sure you cover up the area. If it was a virus that easily spread (beathing on someone etc) that you should keep him away from school kids, I would think the internet would say more than "don't worry about pinpointing." It's obviously not a big deal but for your comfort, cover it up so nobody else touches it.

How about an urgent care or something like that? You say they are mostly going away. I like to be pretty darn sure. You would probably feel better especially since you feel you all have something going on. Better to be safe with school tomorrow.

It sounds like you are all being bit. Different people react differently to insect bites. If there is no other symptoms there is nothing to worry about.
