Hello. I have been looking on-line for places to take old clothing that is too worn out to donate or resell (holey socks, dingy t-shirts, scrap fabric, etc.). I can't seem to find a place in Michigan. Does anyone know of a drop off center that accepts these materials for recycling.
Thanks

What can I do next?

You know alot of thrift stores makes bags of old clothing and scraps and sell them for rags. Maybe bag them up and right on bag rags. It sounds silly but I have bought bags of "rags" from thrifts stores for cleaning. Just an idea.

I think the recycling place in Troy accepts clothes and shoes etc. I think it's on Coolidge but check online....

I am sorry I do not have any input. I have an interest in this also. I am totally into recycling. I am interested in others information. Do you think quilting stores would take the "good" material and donate/pitch the rest?

Try contacting your local Elementary School Art teacher. I know that there is a list of my daugthers Elem school for wanted donated supplies like fabric scraps and yarn - a bunch of other items too. Especially with the cut backs in school funding - your school(s) may really appreciate the extra help.
