I mostly am writing to get help. I have just experienced my third early miscarriage. I had one miscarriage before my son, and two this past year. A little about me, I am a healthy, 28 year old and I am also RH Negative. I just went in for blood work to check for immune disorders. My progesterone has been normal each pregnancy and my thyroid levels are normal so I know that is not the issue. I was wondering if there is anyone who has had similar experiences and if their doctor were able to pinpoint the cause. I am truly thankful for my son because he is truly a miracle. I would love for him to have a sibling. I just am so discouraged because it is such an emotional time.

What can I do next?

I don't have any medical information to add. I do understand having a miscarriage. I only had one. I was only 4 weeks along. Not that it mattered. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. I just wanted to tell you that I think you are very courageous to continue to try. Good luck.

Forgive me if this does not apply to you, but I have heard that daily caffeine intake early in a pregnancy can greatly increase one's chances of a miscarriage. I doubt that this applies to you, I just know that there are many coffee drinkers out there that don't realize the impact it has on early pregnancy.

A. - I'm so sorry to hear of the troubles you're having.

I didn't have miscarriages, but just couldn't get pregnant, only to find several reasons all working against me.

My doctor is incredible - he will test for everything up front to pinpoint where any complications may be and with me, he didn't find anything they couldn't do something about. We went through two reproductive cycles with him, and have 2 beautiful girls.

His name is David McLaughlin www.familyjoy.net

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help if I can.

A.....I am so sorry to hear that you are having these issues. I also had 3 miscarriages in a row after two normal pregnancies. It is hard to deal with and hopefully you can get it figured out so you don't have to go through another one.

Here are some things I found out....one don't just trust what your doctor says...ask questions....the doctor I had previously I had to ask about EVERYTHING. They tested for blood clotting disorders...he said they were fine....I had to ask them to test my progesterone....he said it was fine (after actually testing it)..still not answers....I got a second opinion and my NEW OB said, I did indeed have a blood clotting disorder and I did have low levels of progesterone...find out what your levels are, ask for copies of your test results. I spent a year and a hlaf with no answers and 3 miscarriages...when I went to my new OB she told me what to do and I got pregnant the next month. I am now in my 29th week of pregnancy! I hope this helps....just make sure you have an OB you know you can trust and is doing everything they can! Good Luck!!

After I gave birth to a son with trisomy 18, which is a chromosomal disorder, as is Down's syndrome, we went to a genetics counselor. One of the things that was a red flag was that my mother and all of her sisters had frequent miscarriages, and my mother was the only one that ever carried a pregnancy to term. My sister and I are 7 years apart, with several miscarriages in between. My cousins that are my Mom's sisters' children are all adopted. The genetics counselor said that there may be chromosomal abnormalities that are in my family, and children with them are often miscarried. If there are others in your family with similar problems, or who have Down's syndrome, etc., you may want to see if this is happening. For your sake, I hope not.

I'm so sorry, and i have nothing to offer, but I've had to am 28 and have had two m/c in the past 4 months, one at 7.5 weeks and the other at almost 6. My thyroid is fine, and they plan on checking my progesterone if i get pregnant again. So i can totally understand what you are going through. it's so hard. it's even worse to know that if you get pregnant again they still might not be able to tell you what is wrong. Hopefully you get some answers soon. take care.

A., I also had this problem, and I was tested for blood disorders and it came back positive. I was diagnosed as a thrombophilic. I have 5 out of the 6 clotting disorders. I was immediately placed on a blood thinner, and was told that I would have to take them for life. I got pregnant again and I was put on heparin 3x a day. I was taught how to give myself the shot, and was very educated on how to keep myself and my baby healthy. I am now off all meds, and done having babies so I there is no need for me to take blood thinners for life unless I get an actual clot....Hope this info helps. It may not be your case, but it was mine.
