Reconditioned Dyson Vaccuum

Has anyone bought a Reconditioned Dyson Vaccuum? If so did it hold up? I am tired of spending $80-$150 every 2 yrs on a vaccuum. I know Dyson's are loved by eveyone that owns one. But I can never seem to find one I can afford. One year i saw one for $299 but it was xmas time and it was not on my priority list. I see Big Lots have them for $199 reconditioned. Would love any feedback. And for the record...I know I can save my money to buy one. But that is difficult for many reasons. Im just curious if the reconditioned ones are still as good as a brand new one since they claim to never lose suction, and do they hold up or should i expect it to break on me. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I bought a Dyson (the purple one) on Amazon.com almost 5 years ago. I couldn't understand why the price was so good (about $300). When it arrived, there was a note saying it was reconditioned (I'm not sure if that was the exact word they used). It has been the most awesome vacuum ever!!! I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

I bought one used (6 months old) on Craigslist for $125. She was only selling it b/c she got a Kirby from her husband. It's my 3rd arm! I love it so much! I don't even have to sweep the tile anymore b/c it's so strong. I even sucked up an entire new pencil the other day and since all the parts come off fairly easily, we were able to get it out. It's awesome!

I had a reconditioned yellow Dyson (not the ball). It lasted longer than most of the vacuums I've had, other than a Thermax. I think it was at least 5 years. I feel like I got my money's worth out of it because it worked great for a few years. I loved how easy it was to empty the clear bin, and the long cord. Most of the problems had nothing to do with it being reconditioned. We had to buy new washable filters because after a couple of years the old ones just wouldn't rinse clean. It required a a screwdriver to take off the bottom cover to remove tangled hair and string from the brush. One time I vacuumed a corn holder, which made a tiny hole in the main hose. It gradually tore all the way through, and the new hose cost $55. Then the small hose section underneath separated from its connector end. We patched it with duct tape because it would have cost almost as much to replace as the main hose. The suction gradually decreased, and the joints and rubber seals didn't seem to fit as tightly as they used to. It still kinda worked, so I freecycled it and bought a Hoover Windtunnel. It's lasted 2 years so far, but I hate the way the bin empties and the retractable cord has chewed through the plastic around it.

I didn't buy my reconditioned but I do know that they only have a 6 month warranty on them instead of the 5yr warranty that comes with a new one. Check target and Best buy for them as some of the models they are discontinuing and they are selling brand new supper cheap.

http://www.target.com/p/Dyson-DC33-Multi-Floor-Upright-Va... Target's ad for this week has one for $299 new :)
