I also ran into some very rude fertility doctors. Then I found Dr. Richard Rudd in the East Bay. He is very nice. I am now the mother of 3 children. Good luck!
Hi,
my girlfriend is having some problems getting pregnant and has been to a fertility expert whom she found very rude, and she doesn't want to go back to him. (She is a tough cookie, so he was probably pretty bad.) Is there anyone who could recommend a good (and nice) fertility expert in San Francisco for my friend?
Thanks a lot!
A.

Dr. Sae Sohn. He has offices in Marin and I believe he is with one of the big hospitals in the City, too. He is an amazingly wonderful doctor!
I would recommend seeing a good accupuncturist... I know lots of women who had difficulty and accupuncture helped them....
I see Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh in San Ramon... I posted a review on yelp also, here is a copy of it:
1. This is a long overdue recognition of the best fertility doctor in the WORLD... Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh!! (Sorry for the long essay you are about to read, but I was just like you... searching Yelp for someone to help perform a miracle on me). I met Dr. Aimee in May 2009, after 1 year, 10 months of trying to conceive and suffering from a miscarriage in the process. I called around to several places and had even gone to a seminar for a clinic down in San Jose. When I came across a Yelp Review for Laurel Fertility Care, I decided to call. Only moments before I called, I had cried up a storm and was an emotional wreck from yet again another negative pregnancy test. Ginger answered the phone and was so compassionate after hearing my story. She answered all my questions, even those including costs. I was immediately impressed that they were up front and didn't have any hidden fees, like most places I had called. She asked how soon would I like to be seen... given my emotional state I wanted answers immediately. I told her I lived about 15 minutes away from the San Ramon office if I could be seen there. She then called Dr.Aimee to check her availability. Dr. Aimee was at home, but said she would be able to meet me in 1 hour. I was blown away.
Her San Ramon office was cozy and I felt even more comfortable after 10 seconds of talking to her. She took me into her office and we went over my ENTIRE health history. She typed a report to send to my OB, as she went over all her questions. She then made a list of all the tests she'd like my OB at Kaiser to order. Again, blown away. She knew that if I would go through her lab I'd have to pay out of pocket, so she prepared all the info needed for me to share with my OB at Kaiser. She then took me into the operatory for a pelvic exam and ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries.
All tests came back within normal limits and so our journey of trying to conceive with conservative methods began. We started with Clomid only, then went for an IUI with only pills, when that didn't work we went conservative on injections. My ovaries responded ok, but needed a little more of a jumpstart. IVF was out of the question for my me, as my husband and I have a brand new business and can't afford to dip into the business account. So I was only able to afford IUI's, although their IVF tx are far less expensive than other clinics I have visited.
The last IUI was the winner! She decided to be a little more aggressive and up my injections, with some very close monitoring. Low and behold, I just took my blood test on 1/28/10 and it came out positive!!!! I am now one week shy of 6 months and both me and my little boy are doing fantastic. Dr.Aimee is still monitoring me just to be sure my little bean stays put. Again, her care is above and beyond!
Dr. Aimee reassured me that I would eventually get pregnant, it was only a matter of time. She always made me and my family feel so at ease. I was able to call, text or email her anytime of day and she would respond before you could even hit the send button! She is on top of it! She feels more like a good girlfriend to me because of how compassionate and caring she is. She was very generous with me in more ways than one and she is surrounded by a warm, caring staff.
She has changed my life forever. I was severely depressed over my unexplained fertility and miscarriage, she changed all of that with her determination.
I will sing her praises until the day I die! Dr.Aimee helped me start my family and for that I will be forever grateful. Thank you Dr. Aimee!!!

I highly recommend Christine Friel, Licensed Acupuncturist, to support your friend in the process of receiving fertility treatments. Christine is very experienced in working with women who are trying to get pregnant, and she is a gentle, nurturing, skillful practitioner. I personally saw her during my own pregnancy, so I can give a glowing, first-hand testimonial. Christine's beautiful practice, Double Happiness Health, is located in Potrero Hill in San Francisco.
Research demonstrates that acupuncture significantly increases the success rate of fertility treatments. I hope your friend finds a great fertility expert, and perhaps acupuncture will play a role in helping fulfill her dream of becoming a mother.
Myself and a friend were just talking last night about this topic! We both saw a doctor Simon Henderson in SF on Laurel at California. He is very kind. I have to say that I only had problems with miscarriage so at that time he really didn't work with that. But, my friend loved him and found him very supportive and had 2 children despite her Polycystic ovaries.
I have heard wonderful things about WU's Healing Center at 703 Clement St. (at 8th) in SF . The # is ###-###-####. She is an acupuncturist and has pictures of babies all over her walls.
Hi there,
I am a nutritionist in Marin, and I specialize in enhancing fertility. I also work with some other practitioners, so we can create an integrated plan. The work I do can be helpful on its own or in conjunction with conventional treatments, so you don't have to choose between them. She might want to check out a class I am presenting at the end of the month: UNDERSTANDING AND ENHANCING FERTILITY NATURALLY. It is on Thursday, Feb 28 from 6:30-8:30 at Marin Ayurveda in Fairfax. I will be speaking on nutrition and lifestyle, Sara Stieg, L. Ac. will be speaking on Chinese medical approaches and Ashley Ross will be speaking on understanding our hormonal cycles. It should be a very stimulating and information-packed evening. She can call me personally to get more information about the class or my services. My number is ###-###-####.
Best of luck to her,
E. Bender, NC, CHN

I was very happy with Dr. Simon Henderson 17 years ago and was happy to see he is still in practice in San Francisco. I went to him privately and paid out of pocket; he gave me advice which I took back to my wonderful SF Kaiser ob/gyn, Dr, Yisroel (Ira) Sapan, and a few months later I was pregnant. Best of luck to you.

Hello readers-
Please, if you want to have a child- NEVER use Dr. Sae Sohn. NEVER.
He gave me overall very poor care, made highly inadequate decisions for me, and my donors, gave me bad advice regarding my case, as well as lack of important information (which did not allow me to make the proper decisions moving forward) and practiced inferior and out of date infertility techniques. I spent soooo much money and do not have a child and there was nothing "wrong" with me...
It was the worst experience of my life. Period.
Find another doctor, I beg you. I beg you.
Hi A.,
There is a wonderful fertility doctor at California Pacific Medical Center named Katherine Hsiao. She is very down to earth, comforting and amazing.
Good luck to your friend!

The VERY best fertility doc in the Bay Area (got me triplets at the age of 40!) with the BEST bedside manner (most of us that go to him end up with a major crush) is Dr. Zouves.....his website is: www.goivf.com. I'm sure that your friend will absolutely ADORE him (and get pregnant to boot!)
BTW - I also had a rude one to begin with (told me that my eggs were too old). Dr. Zouves told me that there was no reason that I couldn't get pregnant after looking at my file....and he was right! (tell your friend to also go to Dr. Angela Wu on Clement St. who specializes in fertility acupuncture).
I personally know 2 women who were told they could NEVER get pregnant by their OB/Gyns, who went to my acupuncturist for about a year and ended up pregnant with NO fertility treatments. Her name is Miria Toveg, and she's at the Lotus Center on Valencia and 22nd. The number is ###-###-####. She also helped to successfully induce me into labor with my daughter. She has a way with women's issues, and is a true healer. I can't recommend her enough.
I go to Dr. Marcel Cedars at UCSF. She is a reproductive endocrinologist. I also had some unpleasant experiences with previous doctors, and found Dr. Cedars to be very intelligent, progressive, sensitive, and receptive of my questions/concerns. I had a beautiful baby boy as a result too! I have never heard a complaint about her, and have known many people who have used her as a doctor (and have become pregnant).
Good luck!
N.
I would highly recommend Dr. Marcelle Cedars at UCSF. She is top notch. I was referred to her and have since referred her to others. The only down side is that it takes a couple of months to get in to see her. But, highly recommend!
I am a nutrition professional in the East Bay who works with fertility issues. And I have had some good success with the small population I have seen in 8 years.
My own personal experience with infertility has fueled my desire to help women support their overall well-being and health, something very often ignored, in advance of trying to conceive.
Another person who is offering some great classes to support women planning to conceive so they have healthy babies is Julie Matthews in SF.
