Recommendations for High Chairs

I had the Graco Contempo high chair and loved it. The perks are that it has a nice fabric seat which is easy to remove and wash. The seat is height adjustable and reclines. It folds very flat so is great if you need to store it. The only drawback I found is that it takes up a bit of room when it is open so if you have a small kitchen it may not work. Other than that......highly recommended!

My two girls are six and eight now so it's been awhile since I shopped for highchairs and I know products change alot but I love the peg perego "papa primo". (I think that was the name) The chair was height adjustable by simply squeezing two buttons, it also reclined (great for naps) and it folded up quite compactly so it was easy to tote. The only drawback I can think of is the plastic covered foam seat was not removable and food and spills occasionally got under it and were difficult to remove. I sometimes put the whole highchair in the shower, just be sure to fully dry the foam or mold can grow. Hope this is helpful!

I am a mom of three and if I were you I would get a WOODEN, simple, high chair. All the other high chairs are fancy, HARD to clean, take up too much room, etc... I finally got it right with the 3rd and if you haven't gotten one yet go for the wooden one.

We love our Fisher Price Space Saver. It's a regular high chair but doesn't have any legs -- instead you strap it onto one of your kitchen or dining chairs. We bought it about a year and a half ago on-line (maybe Wal-mart.com?) because we had a hard time finding it in a store -- no one could keep it on the shelves!

The Eddie Bauer wooden high chair is great. It has a much smaller footprint than the large plastic ones and it is easy to clean. We got ours at BabiesRUs in Braintree. Good luck!

I had the Peg Perego with my first. It was fine, nice. I recommend spending the plane ticket from Italy on YOURSELF though! I now have for #3, the Evenflo. It was cheap, like $50
and it reclines, rises and lowers and also folds all easily, just like the Peg Perego. The top tray comes off to wash in the sink quickly every meal and goes in the dishwasher every day. The pad removes and replaces in one second and I wash it in the machine and hang it over a chair to dry in the night. I really have nothing I'd like it to do better!

Whatever you pick, make sure the distance between the tray and the seat bottom's not too great. I put my 9 month old in my sister's highchair( I forget what one, but not a cheap one!)
and the tray came up to her chin , it was terrible! She needed the Yellow Pages to eat. It was not adjustable either. Borrow a baby and sit him in a few at the store :)

We returned our big high chair and just use the Fisher Price Healthy Care Booster http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Care-Booster-S.... It has a tray that we used until our daughter was eating with us. No we just pull her right up the table. Inexpensive, easy to clean, and easy to take with you if needed. You can also put it right on the floor if you want - we did that for her birthday so we could all eat cake together. We've used it every day for about 2 years now and love it.

I recently bought the Chicco Polly highchair. So far so good! My daughter is just a couple of weeks younger than yours. She is a bit small in the chair right now but she was trying to sit up in her bouncy seat so I needed something else. It folds away easily, comes with two trays, and many different positions both in height and seat. It is a little cheaper than the Peg Perego but still on the higher end. Anyway I like it so far. It's worth taking a look at.

I have a peg perego and we spent a fortune on it. For my first I only wanted the best and thought it meant the most. Well the one we have has a cloth covering and I had to machine wash it twice a week. It was impossible to clean the chair itself - i had to take it outside and hose it down and then it took hours to dry.

If I could do it over again i would pick one with either all wood (doesnt sound comfy) or one with the plastic cover so you can wipe it down.

My husband and i bought the Fisher Price ocean wonders high chair. It's cover is vinyl and easy to clean and it even comes with toys that attach to the highchair which kept my daughter entertained while i could clean up the kitchen or do dishes. My daughter is now 21 months and sitting in a booster chair but we kept the high chair for our next child. I think Peg Perego has nice things but i don't feel that kids are in high chairs long enough to spend too much money. This was a great price and a great chair.

This advice was given to me from a friend and we were so glad! We just got a portable high chair and have never used anything different. They are these little durable plastic portable chairs (Babies R Us, Walmart) that can be adjusted outward or upward and travel great too - although we never used it for that. We never got a high chair. The tray goes in the dishwasher and I just throw it in the tub and give it a squirt with some soap and water. It straps to almost any chair. It's all plastic with no screws or tough to reach areas. This was a much easier and cheaper alternative - plus they don't take up much room. Hope that helps.

We've got the Eddie Bauer wooden one. I love it, it is sturdy, easy to clean. You can throw the cloth cover in the wash (we bought a second cover to rotate them) and there are no small crevices you sometimes find in the plastic highchairs for cracks to hold crumbs. The only feature I wish it had would be the ability to lower it. I was never bothered by the height, but recently I was feeding a friend's baby at their house and the highchair they had was low and a nice height for me to feed the baby while I was sitting, you're not raising your arm over the tray. If you're short for space, we've also gotten a lot of use out of our portable chair that attaches to your regular kitchen chairs. We have this one:

1. For at home, Eddie Bauer wooden high chair - love it! Found another cover on Ebay that is all plastic with a little teddy bear on it. The plaid cloth one seemed harder to keep clean, but I never used it so I'm not sure. Began using around 7 months. Baby loves it. Sturdy enough for her to hold onto while she was learning to stand and walk.

2. For on the go, Fisher Price Healthy Care Booster Seat. Only about $20, and you can use this absolutely anywhere. Very easy to use, cleans up easily, baby loves it (began using around 8 months).
