Try to find the book called What's Happening to Me! It talks about both sexes and how they change. Both my kids read it and understood. If they had any questions they asked.

My son is 9 and starting to notice some changes in his body. While I have searched the library and found a lot I just didn't find any I really liked so I was wondering if any of you might have some suggestions for books I can get form him. Of course his Dad has talked to him and me as well but I want something he can look at, read, study and that way if he wants privacy he can have it. He is starting to show interest in girls changing bodies, noticing his is changing, etc. We are all very comfortable with the subject but if there is a chance he feels better with some books of info rather than asking me or his dad, I want him to have the right ones. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am not really talking about "sex" books but info on reproduction, hormones, changes, puberty and so forth. The actual health talk in class is not till next year and I would like to tackle it before his teacher does. Thanks!

The Cokesbury Bookstore has a book for children called "Created by God". You can read it first and then inscribe a special dedication in the front to him. It is appropriate for his age. The nearest Cokebury store to you is on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. Call first to see if they have it in stock.
This is an exciting time in the life of your family, stay honest. God made your sexuality a gift.
Not specifically about sexuality, but my boys LOVED the 'Chicken Soup' books. For the adolescent Soul, or the Preteen Soul, one of those we started with. It will make him feel like he's not alone, EVERY BOY HE KNOWS is going through the same thing! Check them out.
:)
I bought the book, "What's Going On Down There" for my two boys. Now, keep in mind it is very specific but at the same time has humor. It does have cartoon pictures. Barnes and Noble carries it so you can take a look at it before you buy.
I know this is going to sound crazy and wildly inappropriate but how about you talk to your 9 year old boy? If he has questions answer them honestly instead of just throwing him a book and calling it good. Really I would have never in a million years gotten my 9 year old to read a book about "changing bodies" relax kids grow up they know more than you give them credit for
"The What's-Happening-To-My-Body Book for Boys" (there is also one for girls). This is what my mom got for my brother and I when we hit this stage in our lives. Of course, I never read the boys' book, but the girls' book really helped me. My mom talked to me about it all, but the book put it in more technical, detailed terms, and we would talk about anything I saw or read that I had questions or concerns about. My daughter is 9 and we started these talks about 6 months ago...good luck!
