Hi,
I am a mom to a 10 month old and I have been pretty much rotating the same foods in and out of his diet simply because I don't know really what to feed him. I am blessed with a great eater so far and he will eat pretty much anything I give him. Does anyone out there have some great recipes to share?

What can I do next?

Feed him what ever you eat. That makes it easy not extra meals to prepare. My children always off my plate sitting on my lap when they began eating food. Kids don't need special food

If you go onto gerber.com, they give some great recipes that use their products. They get pretty creative also, like making "baby tacos."

My 8 month old eats pretty much what we eat. As long as it's soft and cut up small. We had mashed potatoes with veggies/hamburger in gravy on Saturday night and she had mashed potatoes, veggies and a little gravy. If it's something she can't eat that we're eating I try to make a veggie she can eat like carrots so she can feed herself. Otherwise I just give her a jarred food item.

I love a book called First Meals by Annabel Karmel. It has meals arranged from 6 months-5 years. We use this book all the time. She also has many other recipe books all having to do with kid/family friendly topics (i.e. school lunches).

For things not to feed your baby, I also wanted to add strawberries and tomatoes (yes, that includes ketchup). My child is also 10 months and eats pretty much whatever we eat. He does not have any teeth yet (his father's side is late teethers, the oldest being 18 months!!), though, so I always have to make sure the food is some what mashed.

At ten months the bigger question for a good eater might be what shouldn't I feed him? Just in case you don't already know, it is recommended to wait until a full year to introduce the following:

Corn
Nuts
Peanuts/Peanut butter
Milk/dairy products
Egg whites
Seafood
Citrus fruits and juices

These are the most common food allergies; and introducing them before baby is a full year old will increase his chances of developing an allergy (in families with a history of allergies the waiting period is even longer--make sure to look that up if you are in that catagory!)

Otherwise, I would feed him whatever you are eating! If you aren't the healthiest eater, this is the time to step it up a bit. He will likely enjoy being included in what you are doing for yourself and being a part of any main meal. Simply take from the roast, the potatoes, the green beans... what have you--and smash or shred them onto his tray or into his dish using a fork. Voila! No extra recipes needed! Another idea, you can get a handy baby food grinder to use (we loved ours!) You just pull out the top, put in some of whatever you're eating, put the top back on and grind it up--instant babyfood! You can put in chunks of banana and apple to create a fresh apple-banana sauce or potato with mixed veggies for a new baby-hotdish. If you're feeding him what you're eating you'll have to keep your diet healthy and varied--but this way the whole family benefits and Baby learns healthy eating habits!

Good eating and good luck to both of you!

I agree with what the other Moms have said. Feed your child what you eat so that as he grows, he will be more likely to eat what you prepare for everyone. www.wholesomebabyfood.com has some great babyfood recipes along with ideas about when to introduce certain foods and which foods to hold off on. They have feeding schedules for each age that give recommendations on what to try!
Happy eating!

Feed him whatever you eat just cut up in tiny pieces. My kids even liked spicy foods.

At 10 months, you can feed him just about anything. My boys both ate all homemade baby food, and by 9 months were eating chopped up whatever we were eating for meals.

www.wholesomebabyfood.com is a great stie, and www.wholesometoddlerfood.com too. But again at this age, as long as its bite sized he can have it. Give him a plate of chopped up food and let him go to town. :)
