So my 2monfh old has outgrown the 12 receiving blankets I used to use to swaddle him.. I have sleep sacks he's using for night time blankets too. Any creative ideas for what to do with them now?

What can I do next?

Keep them in the car, use in crib for a light cover, put them on floor or in playpen and she can lay on them. Or give them away, but then you will wish you hadn't. My 21/2 year old granddaughter still likes hers.

From here on out, keep one in the car. Or several if you have a spot to tuck them out of the way. Something like that comes in handy often... when you need a diaper change done and there isn't anywhere to do it, when your kid comes down with a bug (or car sickness) and barfs all over their car seat, but you have to put them in it to get them back home, if they spill something on themselves as toddlers and you have to strip their clothes off...

Have someone make them into a quilt. It will be soft and snuggly.

I'm baffled about a baby of 2 months out growing them. I used them til they were probably 6 months old as a light blanket for naps, as burp cloths, to wrap a baby after bath, just to snuggle. And they all had a special one that they still have now.

Save them for the next baby or pass them along to someone else having a baby.

Either keep them for the next baby or give them away to a family crisis shelter.
If you sew you could make them into a quilt for your child to use when he's a toddler.

I'm not a saver or particularly sentimental, but I would keep them around for awhile. They are nice to have in the diaper bag, carrier or car to use for random things like diaper changing liner, extra shade over a car seat carrier, burp cloth, etc.

Welcome to mamapedia, C.!

Congratulations on your new baby!!

If you want to keep them - make them into a play blanket - cut them in squares and sew them together and put batting in the middle and blue jeans on the other side...then you will have a reminder of your son's first months in his life and be able to use them...

if you don't want to save them?? donate them or use them as a liner for future gift baskets for baby showers...make sure they are clean and in good shape!

Burp pads, diaper changing pads, keep a few, donate the rest if you're not having more.

I used them for dish towels, same as diapers. I miss that.

Use them as towels after you bathe him. Sell them in a yard sale this summer.

Receiving blankets are great. I used them as
- bath towels
- a blanket, not for swaddling but to put over the baby when in a stroller or a car seat
- as a pad under the car seat to protect your car's interior
- if you have a little girl, she will eventually use them for her baby dolls
- roll them up and use as padding as your baby gets older and is put in seats that may be a little to big or that have a hard surface or edges (thinking maybe a wagon)
- they make nice rags
